My Friends are greyed out. Can't spectate or invite

I logged out of the game, then back in twice. That usually works. Not this time, Is tere a hot key that might be the reason?

I have the same issue.

This is happening to me and a friend as well.

We can see that the other is online. I can even see he’s “Doing battle in Ranked Standard”.
Next to his name is a grey > arrow. Not an eye.

When I mouse over the arrow, it says, “Friendly Challenge. You can’t challenge NAME right now. Wait for them to return to the main menu.”

He saw the same thing when he could not spectate me earlier today.

I have same problem since today. Happening in Europe. All is greyed out. Cannot spectate, cannot invite, cannot challenge. Stop harassing women in your company and fix your stuff!

EDIT: I also cannot talk to people from within hearthstone client. Battle.net talking works.

EDIT 2: I also see that my name is missing from within hearthstone if you click on your friendslist.

Just an idea:
When any of you play a random game (Play mode), is your opponent’s name “Your Opponent”?

The idea is that you managed to activate “Streamer mode”, which is toggled by
Ctrl + Shift + S(PC), or Command + Shift + S (Mac).

I have seen this during maintenance a few times - might have just been something they did in their end.

I have been having the same issue for several days now and so have my friends. It’s intermittent for me but one of my friends just can’t invite or challenge anyone anymore because the button always greyed out.

There’s actually a thread about it in the bug report section of the forum.
Log into the Battlenet app on Mac or PC and check whether your avatar is set to “appear offline”:

If your friends see you as offline while you are logged in make sure you didn’t accidentally select to Appear Offline. On the app, click the drop-down menu on your Avatar and change your status back to Online.

Unfortunately it’s not related to this. It happens when everyone is set to online. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I am having the same issue. Sometimes switching the region would work, but not always. Currently unable to play with a friend now because of it.

Same issue here - bump, logout and in sometimes resolves…painful
