I’ve been using my own Mill deck in Wild but something strange seems to be happening…out of 20 games, 16 were against other Mill decks…is this the meta? or a function of the new matchmaking system? I thought Mill was supposed to be pretty niche, not 80% of games played lol. Is this happening for anyone else? I’m trying to figure out what is going on. Should I change my Mill deck to Aggro and then the other Mill decks I face will stop appearing? Or how does it work? Thanks!
No.
It is kinda the opposite. Your MMR got so low that you’re paired with other people doing the same thing because only mill decks can lose so much.
Have you ever played Wild Mill decks? They are quite strong…the one I use has made it to legend multiple times…so idk that that is the case?
Wild mill decks are fairly rare at diamond at least.
But these things tend to go in surges.
it’s probably just a coincidence. I play wild and rarely see mill decks.
Pretty sure mill decks are dead before they can do anything interesting.
Like, I am sure pirate rogue wants you to help them draw but even then the games are less than five turns.
Thanks…that is what I thought…so I guess it must be something to do with an algorithm matching all mill decks against each other? Why would this be?
Because they are all losing incessantly until they play each other.
The match looks at your wins and losses and your opponent’s wins and losses. It doesn’t need to see what deck you play to know you’re not winning much, so it matches you to other not winning much players to give you competitive games.
Play an actually competitive deck for a ten game win streak and you won’t see mill decks anymore.
The thing is…I did that, I switched decks and immediately next 10 games I didn’t face a single mill deck. I’m just wondering why the algorithm would be this way?
I mean they are still pretty good. I have a mil druid deck in wild that runs the 2000 armor combo, and I have a decent win rate with it.
Its also just an annoying deck to deal with, even if its not that strong.
Right…people act like the game isn’t rock paper scissors…sure Mill sucks against aggro since they just dump hand with 1 and 2 drops so you won’t survive and never mill them, but ignore that Mill is the opposite of sucks against Control or Combo when you destroy everything they want to do and they’re left with nothing.
idk if rock paper scissors is the best way to describe it. if you are good at deck building your deck should be able to deal with most decks. you just gotta know the weaknesses and strengths of your cards.
but there are some decks that will always get steamrolled by another.
RPS is indeed the way to describe it. What you are describing is more like someone who throws Rock gets really really good at throwing Rock. But no matter what they will still always lose to Paper.
