Another topic directed at demon hunter as a class inspired me to think what the next class could be. As Hearthstone reflects World of Warcraft in terms of class, it seems to follow that monk or death knight ought to be the next class.
Monk and death knight are the only WoW classes not part of HS and as such, in regard to consistency, one should be the next playable class, in my opinion. I am not going to suggest the styles in which these classes would be played nor their hero powers. I’ll leave that up to you all to discuss.
It’s a question of time at this point but I think we had enough for now.
Like…
First we should let the process of implement DH finish. While the most dificult part probably as already passed there still some challenges regarding class identity and the choices for cards to the classic set when the initiate set rotates.
Once the entire process is done it would be far easier to implement monk because the process would be already know and even somewhat refined.
I like the idea of monk hero cards. I’m imagining monkish hero powers, maybe buffs? I feel like they wouldn’t really do violent things, more like support and debuffs?
Monk A, the first passive power in the game. Heroic Resolve: Take 1 less damage from all attacks.
Monk B, 2 cost, Channel the Mantra : Heal your hero for 3.
Monk keywords: Stun - Minions that are stunned cannot attack and dont trigger abilities. ( A Stunned Knife Juggles for example would not deal damage when you summon a minion). Stun wears off like freeze does.
Chi - This minion heals for 2 at the start of your turn.
Palm Strike, 2 cost monk common spell. Stun and deal 3 damage to a minion.
Robed Figure, 2 cost monk common minion. 2/3. Chi.
Lol, no - that would change Paladin dudes into duds - and any other 1 atk minion, too. Stagger as an ability should work differently.
The 2 mana heal 3 HP is too good and the stun abilitiy kinda overpowered. Since almost all WoW classes have stun abilities, that would lead to an outrage.
The Chi ability is neat, as long as no “give Chi to x of your minions” spell exists. The minion’s Mana price should be upped by 1(?), though - and a stealthed Chi minion might become a nightmare.
Cards add a new hero power option. When you inspire it gives you the choice of hero powers you have learned. Examples could be stun, where you Stun/freeze the character attacked; maim, where you remove one health; daze, where the next attack of the character has 50% chance to hit a random character; etc.
Despite the response to the demon hunter, that doesn’t necessitate that further classes will be as hated. It also seems a likely introduction at some point in the future, depending on Hearthstone’s longevity of course.
Either way, no harm in thinking and talking about a hypothetical class.
