Classic was a bot infested cesspool and it was the correct thing to remove it.
Classic was literally the most boring game. It was nothing but Curvestone for the win. Take off the glasses and look at it closer. They literally wrote bots to get legend with it to fuel the barcode market at its peak.

The right course of action is to start by improving the UI. Put Standard at the top; stop implying Wild is an equal alternative by showing it together at the top with Standard; your Classic had no chance since nobody even played it even after advertisement.
These UI things may seem “unimportant” to old players; they are extremely vital when it goes to new players; they handhold them to what is important on their first experiences and currently a lot are driven into Wild and then complain about it.
