EDIT ON 11/04/2024: Just tried launching it again, it ran and updated just fine. There was no new update in Google Play Store since the bug, yet somehow it’s been fixed. This was my first and only bug report post in the forum so not sure if I was supposed to delete it or edit. But yeah.
As the title says, everytime I try to open the Hearthstone mobile app it doesn’t open. The ‘task’ is immediately minimized to the background and I’m sent back to my phone’s home layout screen. Opening the task manager function on my phone to try and switch to the now-running Hearthstone app… pops up a system message saying the app encountered a bug, and it says to try clearing the cache and then try again.
I have done this process 10x already, and it never opens. It just keeps prompting me to clear cache and won’t launch after I do.
I’ve also tried:
- Checking for a new update in the Google Play Store (I had successfully updated to the latest version yesterday, but hadn’t tried launching the game since)
- Clearing the cache, then force stopping the app before relaunching.
- Clearing the cache and app data, effectively deleting all past updates to the game files.
- Clearing cache and app data, then force stopping the app as well
- Clearing cache, clearing app data, force stopping and then uninstalling Hearthstone altogether, then reinstalling from the Google Play store.
So now I have a fresh install of the Hearthstone app, but now all the extra updates I’ve done over the years from inside the game are gone… and I still haven’t been able to launch it, I experience the same issue as before.
For reference, I am using a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G device from Verizon and my phone is updated to the latest version. I have yet to try Hearthstone’s latest update on my PC but given it seems to involve some sort of system issue cause it endlessly prompts me to clear the cache on a loop… I’m leaning towards hope that I won’t have the same trouble on PC.
