Misdirection issue

if all other targets are immune the misdirected minion will hit original target and not even trigger the secret

And? Secrets won’t trigger if they can’t resolve.

Secrets that summon minions won’t trigger if there is no space on the board.

Secrets that trigger after playing a minion will not trigger if the minion destroys itself before the after play phase.

Misdirection won’t trigger if there is no valid targets to redirect to.

This isn’t a bug.

The odd thing though is that Immune doesn’t normally rule a character out for random attack targeting. To my knowledge, Noggenfogger, “50% to attack the wrong enemy”, Boomzooka, and so on can all direct attacks at Immune characters. Misdirection is an odd exception to that.

Sudden Betrayal also won’t choose an Immune character from what I’ve been told. That may just be the rule among Secrets, but that seems a bit arbitrary, and considering certain other anomalies (https://github.com/HearthSim/hs-bugs/issues/855) with that effect, it could simply have been inherited when someone used Misdirection’s script as a reference when implementing it.

Seems worth looking into more. Secrets have a lot of unwritten rules (for good reason), but that can make it easy for obscure inconsistencies to go unnoticed for a long time.

the secret says it must attack the other target. if that target is immune thats not my problem. the secret should still trigger and make it attack something else, like it says it will.

Mayor Noggenfogger didn’t work against Lich King and I almost lost when I noticed!

If you cast Frostbolt on a minion with Divine Shield, do you expect it to take three damage? That’s what Frostbolt says…

it doesnt say the minion will take 3 damage, it says only that it will deal that much. and it does…in this case, to the shield

btw this happened to me during lich king fight so i dunno if its bugged or if thats how it would be in a real match
