I was playing arena, my opponent had Odyn Prime Designate passive effect applied, I killed his moarg forgefield (gain armor death rattle 8/8), then one of my minions just randomly died, then I lost. like what
It would be helpful if you had a replay you could post.
If your opponent had played Odyn
And you killed a moarg forgefield during their turn
You gave your opponent armor during your turn
Which means you gave them attack during your turn
Which means their hero has been able to retaliate, just like any other minion, since they had attack
Attacking a hero with an attack value has always resulted in the attacker receiving damage since Hearthstone classic. Since this interaction has been known for 11 years and haven’t been changed since, I’d classify it as intended and not a bug
Did it die after attacking the enemy hero?
no it did not, however it did have a deathrattle trigger (its the deathrattle undead mage minion thats a 2/2 that deals 2 damage)
Very likely, it was caused by some effect or deathrattle that you just overlooked.
Without a game replay recording, there is no practical way to investigate further.
good point, I’m just annoyed I lost my game oh well no need to respond to this thread now
The attack you give him during your turn shouldn’t apply in his next turn.
Edit: I didn’t fully read the post and jumped the gun assuming what you were say falsely. My mistake.
If you gave him armor then you gave him attack. If you did that before swining face with the minion that died then thats what killed your minion.
There is a card that says “the next deathrattle minion you play dies immediately”. Could that have been in effect?
