Powercreep for a game is the same as a human being getting more fragile as they start to get old.
Anyone thinking they can escape it is Just delusional. When you try that you just make the game not fun anymore.
I not saying it is good. I not saying it is not a problem.
I saying that considering that the game is 10 years old and we aren’t at a turn 1 OTK festival:
Blizzard is doing a decent(maybe not perfect) job of making the progress as slow as they think they can make.
Which is why, if you actually think about it, what OP is complaining about is no surprise whatsoever. It is the inevitable conclusion of what would follow from the Hearthstone of 2014.
I will not deny that it was inevitable eventually, but nobody could have predicted it getting this badly as early as year one. Witchwood, I get people saying from then on all legendaries could break the game. Darkmoon and League of Explorers, I can see people saying creativity died after them. But when the scariest legendary we had all the way back then was Tess Greymane and The Darkness, nobody could have thought “Hmm, in 10 years I won’t have to work as hard to get a 20/20 minion or equivalent on the board”
I didn’t want to use the word “obvious” because obviousness is subjective. For example, if people in general are presented the math problem x!/6!=7!, apparently it’s generally considered a math Olympiad level problem, but I solved it in 30 seconds without writing anything down. It was easy and the answer obvious, to me. I’m not saying this (primarily) out of ego, but just to say that I don’t want to insult people for not being able to work things out easily in their head. It’s not nice to say things like that are obvious.
But no, it was clear to me that the amount of stats you could put out to the board would keep increasing. Even back then. This is not a “nobody could have thought” situation.
If it isn’t nice to state the obvious then I won’t say there’s clearly no pleasing you. I was trying to suggest concrete moments in the games history where the community had to raise their eyebrows at what was possible and what the future would look like after that. Prince Renethal, colossals, and titans were all cancerous on release but we as a people learned to live with them until they left to the Wildlands. Whereas mage spellhax is something that is currently sorting out the genepool and making everyone who can’t think of how to fight it and live with it leave the game en masse. That’s why you were getting backlash for criticizing dukes “honest” BSM match up and casualties write up, yes he insulted his own deck in his post a few times, yes he admits he didn’t like it himself, but he told what could fight with it without feeling futile against it. Man was offering the rope outta the underworld for those who wish to climb it
I’m the last lackey user, the only warlock who thinks Supreme Archaeology is the best quest they have access to, and now a known miniset legendary thumper. Clearly I’m not to be trusted
Well SORRY. You and Kewl are both downers dressed in bright blue like the anti fun police, sorry for confusing the guy who tells you he warned you bad stuff would happen after the bad stuff hits for the guy who comes in accuses your arguments of having no points then offers none themselves
Correction. I don’t hate mage, mages hate ME! I loved it! If I don’t love playing mage like back in the day. Darkmoons day specifically. I DON’T PLAY MAGE. Around badlands just happened to be when I realized mage was nigh unplayable in standard until they came back with tidal waves and a vengeance
The real anti-fun police here are clearly you and the OP.
You’re both literally complaining about the game’s current state.
As a downer myself, I might’ve agreed with the original post and even thrown it a like if TBC had made at least one inspiring argument.
Instead, his message was dull and boring; a rehash of old complaints.
There’s a chance I’d agree under different circumstances, but honestly, I blame OP’s lack of charisma.
Oh, and for the record, I didn’t even reply to the thread you’re talking about. So I’m not sure how you managed to confuse me and Scrotie.
May not have insulted the thread directly at its core but you still indirectly insulted it. Scottie’s as innocent as a vulture circling a corpse rn compared to you, I can understand his cynical view on the matter even if it involved calling me deluded for not seeing it sooner
