It was being slept on a bit, but it is starting to show up more. I was so focused on the DH powerhouse cards that this one slipped by me until I was reminded (the hard way). This card is super cheap for DH and super disruptive for their opponent. If played early, it effectively forces your opponent to skip their turn 2 or 3, which if DH has a Battlefiend down, you’re just done. Right there… Dead!
DH tempo is so insane that cheap Mana disruption basically hands them the game. Very few decks would be able to stabilize and catch up.
Honestly, I think this card is going to be problematic. Especially when played early. There is almost no bad time to use it in most cases. Maybe give it the Bog Beam treatment, where it reduces cost after a certain turn? Forcing an opponent to skip an early turn is just too much.

While I don’t think it deserves nerfing, I am surprised Demon Hunter got this card among the others. I am fine with this card, but I can see why people get frustrated. Playing this card only does buy one mana crystal so it’s not a total tempo drive. It’s more of a cheap Loatheb on a stick that just locks the opponent down if played in good time.

Not when it hits on turn 2 or 3, forcing the opponent to effectively skip the entire turn. Against any deck going for any kind of tempo, that’s basically gg vs DH speed. Later in the match, it might be an effective strategic play, but in early turns, it’s backbreaking. I still don’t like that they gave this to DH. Their ability to draw while keeping insane tempo makes Mana disruption very oppressive.

Well the whole class is on different levels of busted. I do like the card in the fact that classes like Hunter get shafted if they lose tempo on the first few turns. That’s why I like the Demon Hunter class because it is flexible in the play and isn’t shut down at the first sign of come back like Hunter is.
I will agree that as of right now it is a very strong card as it is a cheaper Loatheb equivalent. I just think that the class should deserve something so it doesn’t suffer the same fate of Hunter after it gets bombarded with the deserving nerfs.

This has locked me out of so many game winning plays.
Demon Hunter card draw is STUPID. Like wtf. And they keep nerfing card draw!? I don’t get it.

Starting to think its way better than I thought. It can easily be a 1 mana gain an extra turn on early turns and that means 5+ more dmg you cant stop.

It locks you out of key late game plays too. Like as highland priest it stops me from doing Alex, zeph+twist, or plague of death.
The alternative plays you have to make are just so awful you give them the game right there and then.
It was mildly funny when I thoughtstole mana burn and used it with vargoth to burn 4 mana. You know if demon hunter’s other spells weren’t so attack based they’d probably run vargoth and lock you out of 4 mana multiple turns. FUN

Personally I find the 1 mana silence worse, but I’ve noticed DHs in Wild running the 3/5 dragon that gives you 2 1-cost spells. Mainly because DHs have no bad 1-cost spells as above.

Had an opponent play two of these on turn 5 and on my turn I had 1 mana to try and remove two battlefiends, a fellwing and a blazing battlemage.
Seems legit.

I don’t even know why he has this spell…Mana Burn gives me priest vibes rather than DH

It’s iconic to Illidan I think. Someone said that to me once, idk if it’s true.
Agreed. Its effect should depend on the opponent’s available Mana Crystals: if they have 5 or fewer, it should lock out only 1 (at 6+ it would still lock out 2 as usual). And only 1 Mana Burn per turn.

People seriously complain about every card in these forums… anyone remember Rebuke? A card paladins got some years back, which was basically same as mana burn except it made everything cost 5 more, and it saw basically no play at all, similarly Mana Burn is just ‘pay 1 mana to give your opponent card advantage’
You mean enemy spells cost 5 more next turn?
If you are new player that havent seen any ranked game on higher level at all yet, it would be acceptable to nod at that total lack of experience regarding your post.

If a DH manage to have a god board on turn 4 (which is quite easy actually) AND play this card, they just win the game.
It’s an easy +10 damage to your face you can’t deal with.
Like most people said, it shouldn’t be a DH card at all. They already have the insane aggro, tempo and card draws.

OP is an overstatement.
It’s good. Specifically to counter your opponent’s power turns. Oh no, my opponent plays good cards that make my turns difficult
Manaburn isn’t even on my list of OP DH cards.
The issue isn’t Manaburn. It’s the tempo they gain from overstatted undercosted minions, spells, and HP…which tends to mean those things are broken.

And the insane card draw that makes playing spells like mana burn so easy.

I am legend player, and I have had people play mana burn against me multiple times, and it has never done more than slightly annoy. Maybe you should just put some early game into your deck so your opponent doesn’t have full board by turn 4?
It’s a good, albeit meta-reliant, card.
Nothing broken, nothing OP, move along.
I am discovering that Cobalt Spellskin is broken for Demon Hunters.
Battlecry add two 1 cost spells from your class to your hand.
What are the ONLY 1 cost spell cards you can get?
Silence and Mana Burn. So you get copies of these two spells.
Of course my opponent got both Cobalt Spellskins in the first 10 cards of his deck. Plus the Mana burns he already had. So I got Mana burned 6 times and easily lost.
