Blizzard did not mess up, they did not just release these with zero play-testing.
There are at least 2 very good reasons why Aberrations over power the other minions.
The first reason is that it is easier to nerf down then nerf up.
This is because if the class is underpowered and weak it would be harder to tell just how underpowered and weak they were.
The other reason is that players are going to play the best minions.
If they were weak people would stop picking them, which would result in Blizzard not getting very much data for this 2 week period.
By making them overpowered they will get way more data since everybody plays them.
I expect they will have a nerf ready to go almost immediately after the 2 weeks and they will have loads and loads of games to look at the data from.
This is why they are always in the pool.
They get lots of data but they get data on the wrong thing. Why would you need data on something you do not want in the game , overpowered design. The data is irrelevant. All it does is show that something that is op is indeed op wut.
We make design overpowered on purpose. To give us lots of data. Which we can then use to make design not overpowered. We just need a bit more data and everything will be fine trust me bro.
Its not about the data the overpowered design upon release is the whole point. All the data does is help them design the next expansion to be op as well. I guess its at least good for that.
It’s also important to understand at Blizzcon when they were released they were so bad that the streamers brought to test them stopped playing them they were so bad. So the way you see them now is them being buffed.
There’s only really 1-2 minions that need balanced. It’s the Deity mechanic itself that is the problem. It creates boards that your normal build cannot usually beat because it’s basically like playing against a murloc build of extra summons to the board. The extra tempo damage happening from players that don’t have a stellar start adds up fast and puts you out before turn 9 frequently. thus players either need to high roll a good board or roach early and make sure they are on par.
There was also a patch today so the targeted aberrations have been hit once now. It won’t make a huge difference in the early game though.
That’s such a dumb thing to say, and it angers me that most players actually believe that dumb concept because Blizzard with their incompetence has conditioned people to be abused with alpha versions of a product because they can’t balance their own game.
They should invest in simulation and formulation and not force you to go through WEEKS of a bad game before trying to “balance” it and STILL failing to balance it after several balance patches because they never did it correctly.
But that would require hiring new analysts, and their executives I guess had to buy a new yacht for their vacation to Greece.
