Mage Quest: Raid the Sky Temple

Flavor text:
Why can’t I hold all these scrolls?

RNG value Mage it is, then.

You could practically just shove this thing in Cyclone Mage and call it good to go, honestly.

Well, damn. My first impression; that’s going to be obnoxious to play against. Most of Mage spells are useful in some way, so this is bound to see play! Even if it won’t be competitive it’s going to be one of the most complained about cards in the game, I bet.

I think it’ll be competitive if some variant of Cyclone Mage survives into the next expansion. The deck already has no good tirn 1 plays, plus thos wouod work well the the “hand” archetype by providing additional size and value each turn.

I also wonder; will Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron count as one spell or does all of the ten cast spells count for this quest?

Generally for stuff like that, spells cast by a proxy (Electra, Yogg, Zentimo) don’t count.

Very strong getting a discounted fireball or that 8 mana spell that summons two 6 drops can impact the board in a very big way.
4 mana blizzard not bad either very good value card.

Or if you sacrifice a fellow player to the RNG gods and get Puzzle Box for three turns in a row…

As if “Created By” cyclone mage wasn’t frustrating enough to play against, they get Primordial Glyph as a hero power.

Makes Cyclone mage better. I think the deck will get nerfed.

Definitely an extra tool for Cyclone Mage. Will it actually be any good though? The hero power you gain generates extra value, which is always good in theory, but the RNG factor could cripple the potential. Part of me really wants to like this card, I’m going to rate this as 2 out of 5.

TBH, I hope I’m really wrong about this card.

I’m just glad Glacial hand-clogger Mysteries isn’t in Standard anymore.

I swear, Babbling Book had like a 50% chance of giving me that freaking spell…

Well more like if the extra dead/spent card matters? I guess if you don’t play it and just 10+ spells with Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Mana Cyclone it doesn’t matter as much

Getting 1 mana Mage Secret which we rarely see these days can be really frustrating lol

VERY strong card.

You don’t need to play it turn 1 remember. A very common thing in Wild is to hold the Quest card until you Sorcerer Apprentice and chain spells to then get additional Cyclone value and still get the quest counted for you.

./sigh I am going to hate this card in Standard I know it. Luckily in Wild the Original Quest is just better so I won’t need to see it there I’ll just need to see “Take an extra turn or two… Vargoth dependent” >.>

Doesn’t mage have draw issues, leading to cards like research project, arcane int, coldlight, etc? I mean, keep luna and the mana cyclones and you’ll probably complete this quest right around the time you NEED it.

I don’t play much mage though, could be wrong- but my guess is, this be GOOD- I’m just grateful that mages in wild won’t be able to play both quests at once!

One thing with this quest, though, is that it doesn’t play well with Jan’alai and the hero-power boosting cards from RR, since once you’ve completed the quest, all the boosts no longer work, and you can’t activate Jan’alai if you haven’t done it yet by that point.

Not that there really are any Jan’alai decks that I’m aware of at the moment in Standard, but it really does seem like a potential either/or choice in deck-building going forward.

Fine by me, variety is the spice of life!

I thought they said no more infinate resources!
