Mage needs updated core cards

Mages arguably has the worse cards in the game. Secrets are the most expensive and spells are crap compared to other classes. They might as well rename Frost DK to frost mage.

Mage is being carried by RNG god rune of the archmage. Objection is an extremely powerful secret for rogue. I mean for mage.

And most core cards in all classes are garbage unless they synergize with a power creep card/strategy from recent sets. Mage isn’t going to be like in classic where flamestrike helps carry the class to victory.

Objection is a great secret and with CS it can own, but you’re right.
Core cards are crap comparatively.

you want to buff cards because other classes have stronger spells?

so the powercreep on some spells from other classes is higher so let’s increase the powercreep further?

You can’t be serious, can you?

where will this lead?

why don’t you say exactly which spells from other classes are too strong to be nerfed. This is the right way.

Can someone teach this guy how to play aggro freeze mage?

Mage has some of the best cards in the game. And it shows because aggro freeze mage is a busted deck. You want to look for a class with subpar base cards looks at priest, warrior and shaman.

Mage also has core cards that are never played.
Now I’m sure other classes do too, but to me this says
that the game needs a figurative enema.
Flush out all the useless, never-played cards,
and replace them with something relevant.
Or; revise them so that they see play.
At any rate; I don’t believe the OP is entirely wrong, though it is clear He doesn’t play, or even face, every mage deck.

Yeah, this is one of the things I’ve gotten most frustrated with. Off meta strategies/cards are just falling further and further behind whatever mid (now late) game strategy or archetype they’ve decided they want, and which they enable with a bunch of overpowered cards with ludicrous synergy.

That’s why the metas get solved so quick and everything is super stale very quickly.

Because of your definition of off meta strategies.

Aggro freeze mage itself for example was born from players thinkering with aggro decks for mage at high legend.

Many of the meta is being handcraft and not being obvious lists blizzard intend.

You’re confusing “no space for new things” with “whatever BS i put in my deck should work”.

There are too many from other classes and mage is far behind.

I agree they are great cards (Objection/CS), but hard to get into play when your opponent has a full board by turn 3/4. Hunter’s Ice Trap is far superior. It costs 1 less and you have to spend more than double the mana to play the same card again. Everyone can also have their own ‘objection’ with Okani

My main gripe is that other classes can create a ton of value by reducing mana costs or buffing minions, mage has no such pathways. Mage also can’t heal, Alibi just delays the inevitable by a turn.

Everything in this post is the problem with your average Mage player. The things you listed Mage cannot do Mage actually can do or do it better than the classes that it’s obvious in.

You just don’t know Big Spell Mage exists or don’t know how to play it.

BSM definitely has a learning curve, and it often depends upon Rune RNG.

BSM can only take you so far. That’s what I’ve been playing and it heavily relies on RNG.
