Mage has no fun in Festival of Legends

Just my opinion

Basically no board clears with Flamestrike and mass Poly out
No harmonic/dissonant card?
Mage Core Legendaries suck
No cheap interactions to win by turn 6 like undead Warlock, frost or blood DK, shadow priest, perfect Pally or Totem Shamen
Mage has to pay full mana and all cards cost too much mana

Yes because staring at a full board of cheap minions for the 4th or 5th time that game and have ā€œruneā€ (lol) just cast a bunch of untimely draw and burn your cards is amazing…

Maybe when streamers are showcasing the ā€œgameā€ for bluzzard there will be awesome rng but not us lowly people singled out for annihilation we just get to watch it do mostly bad stuff A LOT OF THE TIMES YAAAAAAAYU FUN GAME SUPER FUN

Actually casino mage has been the highest point in this expansion for me :relieved:

Mech mage seems kinda OK.

It has everything mage players love - insane mana cheat, abundance of card generation, random element, OTK potential, burst

Said this once and gonna say it again.

You can resume mage situation with:

Lightshow sucks.

It not sucks a little. It’s worse than a 2 mana spell from 2 years ago.
Fel barrage.

One thing people did to improve the situation was take the entire lightshow support and switch some cards to play skeletons.

Still i believe lightshow should really be reconsidered and gain one more laser at the base form.

Naga mage has absolutely destroyed me. Mage played this 5 mana naga that alternates between discounting spells and naga by (2), proceeded to play a bunch of 2 cost naga and spells for (0), including infinitize the maxitude, and kept my board clear no matter how much I flooded it.

Mage on one hand has some interesting late game stuff (rommath, lightshow, millhouse, etc), but they currently don’t have the best defense to survive to them. The meta also isn’t too kind to decks that are too slow/greedy.

The mantra ā€œbest defense is good offenseā€ applies here. Mage is likely better going for more aggressive builds with lower curve. It’s not like there aren’t cards for that alongside the greedier stuff.

I literally did my legend climb this month playing Spooky Mage.

It was mage’s turn to get poo’d on.
there are too many classes and only three basic playstyles, no matter how many dumb cards they make.
mage got stuck with the flashy joke cards again.

tell that to warrior players

warrior got crapped on for two xpacs in a row.
There are too many classes now.
Team 5 cannot fix this game, because they printed too many classes to balance.
All they can do is hope players are dumb enough to keep paying in spite of how laughably bad the game is now.

The sad part is that they had ALL the tools available to make Warrior more viable at the rotation and they intentionally dumped on them. There’s no way any Warrior player in their rotation meeting would have agreed with most of the cards they added.

Some of the cards they added were great not even 2 expansions ago (Bladestorm and Sword Eater only rotated a year ago and were really solid then), flunky, axe and armegadillo were weird choices but there’s clearly a divide between the designers I think. Those who like the RNG-heavy, mana cheat-heavy game, and those who want something more strategic and tempered.

Because that’s what it feels like. The game feels completely bipolar in that respect.

Like why do they print a mana efficient discover card almost EVERY EXPANSION?

We already had Nerubian Vizier, we don’t need another discover card that just generates a ton of cards with good tempo stats.

They should go back to class fundamentals, but they can’t, because they’ve printed too many classes, and have no alternative but to pretend there are more than three basic playstyles.

Mage is supposed to have a spell heavy deck that actually help you handle the oppressive boards these classes build by turn 4/5/6 but we can only ā€˜discover’ additional bad spells that are too slow with no clear only 2 damage stall blizzard or 2 damage deathborne.
The legendary mage spell is a worse version of runed orb that doesn’t even deal damage or discount, what amazing legendary spell!
I didn’t print yogg box or rune of archmage but at least they felt powerful.
What does our Legendary Luna do? Draw a card if played from right… wow!
If we are even able to discover and play awesome spells and survive to turn 9 (which is rare) and happen to have Rommath in hand - he self targets own face, epic.

Every time I hear ā€œMageā€ being ā€œmentionedā€ will always be bombarded with complaints leading to the destruction of even hope of surviving any expansion.

Or the 2nd Yogg incarnation that self PyroBlasted or even DawnGrasp that never prioritized enemies - never understood that reasoning as a ā€˜Hero’ play.
