Mage Cards (Reveal #3), No-Minion-Mage support

  • I imagine that this can recast itself, since it costs 10 mana. It’s Legendary, so you won’t put more than one into the deck, but Rewind is a card. So is Audio Splitter.

  • So what’s worth recasting? Lightshow, Star Power, Elemental Inspiration, Void Scripture, Cryopreservation, Blizzard, Firelands Portal. And whatever else we get.

  • So to make it win games you’d want Lightshow and Elemental Inspiration, or whatever else comes in this set.

  • If Shaman casts this off Chaotic Tendril, they could get things like Lightning Storm, JIVE INSECT (bad to target enemies, lol), Pack the House, Turn the Tides, Crash of Thunder, Giant Tumbleweed, Incredible Value, Baking Soda Volcano, Once Upon a Time, and Wish Upon a Star.

  • Objection is rotating so I am not malding at this. Secrets are pretty tame now that OBJECTION IS ROTATING. In case you forgot.

  • Elemental synergy, seems decent on its own. Nice tempo drop.

  • My money is on this being buffed to 4 mana within a couple weeks. But it’s got synergy with Watercolor Artist, if by “synergy” I mean “complete dependence on.”

  • Again, I’m betting this gets buffed to 4 mana unless we are specifically getting Freeze synergy.

  • Cool for tutoring Frost spells, and delayed mana-cheat. A fair card.

  • Fine, and great on Projection Orb.

  • Risky at first, but fantastic with Projection Orb.

  • Fantastic with Projection Orb. Skull of Gul’dan found dead in a ditch.

An interesting start. Looking forward to the next cards.

I knew Mage was getting a Legendary version of Puzzle Box from the hints they gave, nothing more to say about that card.

Ok Secret support in Hidden Objects and not a good card in Trickester, 4 mana for that yikes no thanks.

its a terrible comparison

is closer to shuderwock +rune of archmage mix

you get to build what this spell will do

how did you even link it to puzzle box is a mistery

Not really, it’s an apt comparison to anyone who knows the text for the cards, which he clearly does:

“Cast 10 random spells (targets chosen randomly).
yogg box

and

“Recast a random spell of each cost you’ve cast this game (targets enemies if possible).”
orb

What’s a MYSTERY is how you didn’t see it’s just a slightly improved yogg box.

well one thing here is accurate. This will be better for other classes that discover it than for mage itself.
God I’m sick of Team 5.

They gave mage garbage.
Some players here
pretending a spell version of Dawngrasp (at best) is good makes me smile.
Dawngrasp is way better as you get armor and the upgraded HP.
This just reinforces what i have been saying.
They hate mage and refuse to give it anything that isn’t RNG dictated.
Mage players do not get to have full agency over their win conditions.
Team 5 is so biased, it’s sickening.

I think orb is more like multiple tendrils in a single card, mixed with Yogg’s mechanic of basing on how many spells you’ve cast in this game.

For double the RNG clown circus, you run tendrils and orb in one deck.

By math, old rune of archemage casts 20 mana worth of spells.

So in theory you need to cast at least that much mana worth of spells, using spells with different costs.

0-3 mana spells should be braindead easy if you just run the usual mage low cost spells.

The lowest you can go without being mathematically worse than rune is follow that with 4+5+6. You of course want to do a lot better than that.

With what’s available now (before remaining reviews), wisdom of norgannon and star power do their job as draw and board clear. The 7 also has some choices (firelands portal, elementla inspiration, flame strike coming back). 6 slot is iffy between blizzard and chaos creation.

It can be easier if rainbow gives you useful big spell from another class, but do note prismatic and energy shaper are rotating.

readt he whole text

RECAST is the word yous hould pay attention to

That seems to be biased in favor of Rune of the Archmage, when IMO this new spell is better because you can actually curate what spells come out of it. I’ll be the first to clarify that I hated Rune of the Archmage but there were times when it completely whiffed for my opponents or wasted 10 mana on Iceblood Tower.

Generating two random cards is not as good as generating an extra copy of a card that was already good enough to put into your deck.

If all this did was a Blizzard and an Elemental Inspiration it would still be a fantastic card despite only doing “13 mana” worth of stuff.

i think it is more like Dawngrasp, in spell form tbh.
Trouble is, Standard mage has a bunch of rng crap for spells now.
What is it going to recast? Sunset Volley? lmao.
This will make Quest mage in Wild even more hated than it already is.
Team 5 is incompetent.

Instead of feeding your confirmation bias, have you considered experimenting with a deck that surrounds the card?

Or consider how it’s included in the first set of the year and will see play alongside all 5 of the sets that come after it?

Even just running Audio Splitter means you could get at least 3 of the new Legendary spell, before Rewind comes into play. It might cast itself if it’s your only 10-mana spell. Is that now an infinite loop? Have they given Mage a proactive win condition outside of Sif (which you still seem to minimize, by the way. It’s a fantastic card and Rainbow Mage is a good deck even outside of Energy Shaper.)

Wait until the card is actually being played and watch it develop over time instead of smothering it in the womb. You’ll feel better that way.

Standard Mage has Blizzard, Firelands Portal, Elemental Inspiration, Star Power, Lightshow, and whatever else is coming in the set.

No, you’re probably not putting Sunset Volley into the same deck as this new spell unless it can’t recast itself.

Think, Mallenroh.

Why don’t you wait until all cards are revealed before you all negativ.

Why? These cards are bad. I don’t need to wait for more to say that. It’s true.

Intersting bunch, will have to see how it all comes together but I think I have an idea where this is going

  • The Galactic Projection Orb: Interstingly, it says recast a random spell of each Cost you’ve Cast this game. And targets enemies to boot. This is a fantastic card that also synergizes with stuff like Void Scripture, Stargazing, Reliquary Researcher and Puzzlemaster Khadgar. Don’t forget DJ Manastorm and Kalecgos will be in Standard too to make this even easier to play.

  • Hidden Objects: Good. Nothing impressive but good. Thank god Objection is gone. I’d expect more secrets to come, maybe even with the next reveal.

  • Triplewick Trickster: This one is a fine addition to Elementals on its own but something about this makes me suspect an upcoming theme (drum roll): Minions that scale with Spell damage. This minion’s damage would scale this way and other minions like Inquisitive Creation, Tainted Remnant, Blastmage Miner and other stuff they print could follow this archetype. It would be kinda fun tbh, looking forward to the next reveal.

Oh I am thinking, i assure you. I’m thinking mage players will be dead to aggro long before this card ever matters.

Hmm? Where are you getting this? I don’t think any minion’s battlecry effect has scaled with spell damage unless it specifically says so on the card.

Projection Orb shouldn’t duplicate spells that came from other cards. We’ve seen that before - Void Scripture is casting the spell, not the player. Same logic applies to Chaotic Tendril and a whole host of other cards that have existed over the years.

The orb is not a bad card and you got 1 card to support secrets.

Only the other card sucks for me so far, 6 cards to go.
Could be worse.

It isn’t confirmation bias. it’s just confirmation.
I can see where this will be annoying as * in Wild,
but mage isn’t going anywhere on standard ladder with this.
Other classes get cards that are cheaper and do immediate things
that don’t require you to wait for the luck gods to bail you out.
