Lynessa is not working every time

I had a very weird bug last game (in Stanard). I had Lynessa on the table and 2 copies of +3/+3 librams in hand, discounted to 0. I played one of the librams on my lifesteal minion, and it worked correctly - it was played twice (so it gave +6/+6 in total). But when I played the second libram on the same minion that turn, it did not duplicate for some reason (I’ve never had this happening before!), and because of it I couldn’t heal enough and died on the next turn (I think I could have won otherwise).

How was the cost reduced?

Did the discount only apply to the next spell?

Both of the spells costed 0 mana, I have played and destroyed both weapons before.

If you have a discount that only applies to the first spell of the turn, all of the spells in your hand will appear with a reduced cost, because you haven’t cast any spell yet, and so any of those spells might qualify as the first spell.

But of course the discount only applies to the first spell you cast, and the discount will vanish from the rest of the spells as soon as you cast one.

That is why I asked. How, exactly, were the spells discounted?

Oh, I see. I misinterpreted what you meant by “played and destroyed both weapons.”

My mistake!
