Lowest skill meta i have been a part of

Nothing in this meta take skill.

Brann warrior, no skill
Odyn cycle warrior, no skill
Casino mage, no skill
Ramp death beetle no skill
Highlander hunter, no skill

Even otk shaman doesnt take much like it is soooooo matchup dependent right now.

Druid is actually broken momentarily. Haven’t won a game against druids for 2 days (15, 16 losses in a row).

I’m yet to see them miss nourish turn 3

Warriors have been broken for quite some time. Its’ counters are rendered useless in this meta, so if you play to counter him, get ready for climbing the ladder in the wrong way. Armor generation cards the class has cannot be compared 1 to 1 with damage cards, and that’s a fault in the game’s design/balance.

After watching Norwis play Shaman for days, and hours every day, I still have 11-30 on it. It’s unplayable in my rank. I wish there were more shamans on the ladder, but it appears only Norwis can pull that off

Came back a few days ago after a long hiatus. This game is absolute dogwater right now. Every single game is Discover this or add random that. Impossible to even build a board and as usual, only 3 or 4 viable ladder decks. Judging by the other posts, the usual blizzbot forum lobbyists are still going strong defending this nonsense.

I disagree. Also OTK shaman takes a lot of skill.

Everything else, yeah. No-brain boring hell

Don’t malign mage! You’ll get “that guy” to make another 20 threads!

At the surface, it does.

but things aren’t always as they appear.

You do NOT have a counterplay to an OTK shaman. He’s playing solitaire.

People keep using that phrase “playing solitaire” for wrong reasons. OTK shaman is literally just playing solitaire. He’s just drawing cards, minding his own business, and then he flashes and OTK-s you.

You can only play your cards on curve and pray he doesn’t get his combo. You have 0 agency in that matchup. That matchup is a coin toss for you.

When looked from that perspective, suddenly it’s NOT a high skill deck. It’s a high RNG deck which gives no sense of counterplay, which is exactly why number 1 rank in Legend at the moment is a guy who plays that.

Huh? Just tech in Speaker Stomper, it’s definitely worth it and is not a worse Steamcleaner in this meta.

Now you know why I went to Wild and never came back:)

Good to see you on, BTW:)

I’m not playing against Shamans. Noone plays shaman in my rank. I was just refuting an argument about shamans (partly because I can’t seem to make it work, partly because it’s right)

I wish I was playing against shamans. Their games last for 6-7 turns tops.

Anyway, only 24 hours of this fiesta

And then a little bit of creative chaos and then back to usual shenanigans.

I’m 100% that most of his threads are spam, playing the same tired incendiary meme posts that invite flame wars and virtriol. It’s clickbait and classic crap posting. I’m with you that his takes are tiring, that they clog the board, and derail threads with the same drivel over and over and over. I get it.

That said, you’re at a point now where the problem is you more than him because you’re just bringing it out all the time even when it’s not warranted. Like I said, most of his posts, but not all.

Is this thread necessary?
What distinguishes the skill level between this meta and the previous one, or the ones before that?
If you simply want to express frustration with the meta, you can do so without bringing skill into the discussion. From what I’m observing, these decks appear quite skillful compared to the typical Face Hunter, so why do you think so?

That is an old, but wrong assumption. Face/aggro decks are way more punishing for a single mistake, since you have limited gas and resources and practically you’re on the clock before your enemy stabilises.

Control, slower decks are way less punishing for a single mistake, which makes them much easier to play (at least in that matchup; control vs control, however, is probably the pinnacle of skill, so don’t get me wrong)

If you can play an aggro face deck, make mistakes with it and still win, it means the deck is unbalanced and needs nerfs.

Here’s an example from playing sludgelock:

I’ve prepped a turn 3 trolley problem which would discard my Furnace fuel. That is a huge tempo play, which would draw me 2 cards and spawn 2x 3/3 rush which would clear the board and survive. My experience teaches me that the game is over afterwards.

However, I was tiny bit too high so I missclicked and used Furnace Fuel instead, so I only drew 2 cards that turn.

I lost that game.

One mistake, which isn’t even a huge mistake. Enemy board was 1/3 and 2/3 and I still drew 2 cards.

But it has cost me the game.

I don’t believe any deck in this game requires a doctorate.
APM turtle mage was one of the hardest decks to play ever, but many players managed.

You are wrong.
Control and slower decks are indeed less punishing but require a significantly higher level of skill to play perfectly. The abundance of discovers, options, etc., contributes to a more skill-intensive deck compared to your regular Aggro.
It’s much more feasible to play an Aggro deck with maximum efficiency than it is with a Control deck, making the latter more skillful.

I agree with this. There is a reason I play what I do.
It’s straight forward, and I am not required to know as many card interactions, nor am I required to rely on RNG.

Try comparing playing Casino Mage and Sludgelock, and it’s clear which requires more skill. If I had unlimited time to consider all my options while playing Casino Mage, I could easily use 300 seconds because there is simply too much to consider.

Nah dude i play casino mage and there is still very little skill involved in that deck ither than what good 5 mana spells are there compared to six mana spells and what not. Like do i want a six mana or five mana soell off energy shaper.

Or do i save my arcane and mirqcle salesmen so i dont enerfgy shaper the spells. Cause i might need em for burn later

Hey look, another thread turning into a Mage thread.

Is this like Godwin’s Law?

Do you realize that your posts have been fueling the ongoing dialogue about Mage?
Mage is mentioned in probably the last 10 posts you’ve made.

well then it works exactly as planned out by the makers of this terriffic “skill based” game.
