Linecracker overkill triggered when targeted by BEEEES!

My opponent played Linecracker and then targeted it twice with the spell BEEEES!!!, what triggered it’s overkill 8 times making it a minion with 2500+ attack and 2 hp, to then be followed up by Earthen scales, giving my opponent 2500+ armor…

When an overkill minion is attacked by another minion it shouldn’t be triggering it’s overkill, similar to when it’s being attacked by an opponent.
This is probably because it’s been programmed to not trigger on an opponent’s turn i.o. only when the monster itself attacks.

Please look into this

The combo you mention has been around since Saviors of Uldum came out, and it has not been “looked into” yet. It seems safe to assume it’s working as intended, annoying as it might be.

That being said:

You’re half right: Overkill only triggers on the turn of the owner of the Overkill minion. But Overkill itself is not limited to attacks by the minion itself, as stated in the description of the keyword:

Overkill: Deal excess damage on your turn for a bonus.

Nothing in the description implies that the Overkill minion has to attack in order for the Overkill bonus to apply.

EDIT: if you’re looking for counters, either Skulking Geist or Platebreaker neutralize the combo in its entirety.

overkill should always work, even on enemy turns…
i have this deck all golden, and its fun sometimes, but its also a waste of time.
without this combo, linecracker is utterly useless.

No it shouldn’t…

Overkill should only work when that minion attacks and overkills.
There are also plenty of combinations that could make it useful, as it only costs 6 mana.

No it should not overkill should work exactly when it say it should any time excess damage is done on your turn. This is exactly what happens and has been looked into it is working as inteneded.

It dose make more sense for overkill to ALWAYS trigger. it dose not make sense for it to only trigger on attack. Over killing with a parry or a counter is no less a overkill than if you attack.

The combo you are talking about is not a problem at all. It has been around for a long time and not changed for exactly that reason.

Not only is it slow it can be hard countered really easy. Add two giest to your deck hard mulligan for them and you have a greater than 80 percent chance to draw one to play it before turn 10 without any extra draw from your deck most decks have extra draw making the odds even higher the combo rarly happens pre turn 10 due to the amount of cards they need.

Further the deck Winrate sucks while even if you get the combo of it’s not a auto win in fact I have made decks to kill armor Druids of after there combo for the lolz it’s quite fun.
The combo is a great example of a healthy combo that not only is counter able via tech it’s slow enough you can counter them via rushing down on top while even when it goes of they don’t win. Do they likly win yes which is fine as if they pulled it of you failed in your attempt to counter you had a vary fair chance to win.

Fact is the combo is not a problem nor is the deck. Overkill works how it should and if anything should be buffed to better match the word, there is no issue here.

You are kinda late on this. Line cracker druid has existed ever since Uldum came out. Im tired of these “I lost to a deck and now it should be nerfed” forums. Linecracker druid is a very niche deck and is not competetivley viable. Btw it has been multiple expansions since the creation of this archetype and if this combo wasnt supposed to exist blizzard would have changed it by now.

I thought the overkill mechanic only worked when the one with overkill did the attacking.
In BG(yeah i know bg isn’t hs, but it still has the same mechanics), Pagle or Goliath don’t trigger when attacked and they do overkill buffs.

That’s because it isn’t their turn.

In BG there’s no mechanism by which they can be attacked on their turn.

But it does doesnt it? You atk then they atk. Taking turns, or is autochess just screwed up like that.

Yes you attack than they attack.

When you attack it’s your turn when they attack it’s there turn.

As overkill only triggers on your turn and you only attack on your turn in battlegrounds no way for an attack to happen when not your turn (other than there is a minions than attacks back when attacked if I remember right, that attack would count as happening on your turn).

As such overkill can’t trigger when getting attacked as it would not be your turn when that minion gets attacked other than that one odd counter attack example.

The argument here is it being your turn not the opponents but using SWARM to atk into linecracker to boost its atk with linecracker’s overkill triggering.
The problem is that in this case linecracker is defending and overkill shouldn’t be triggered. Overkill is an atk triggered mechanic.

No, Overkill is not about attaking. It never was.

The actual definition is:

If it had your definition instead of the above, Baited Arrow, Blast Wave and Totemic Smash would never work.

There’s no reason to think it works otherwise just because you get confused about how combat and turns work in Battlegrounds (which is different from regular Hearthstone).

Easy fix: BEEEES should only target enemy minions. You guys are arguing the details of the overkill mechanic while avoiding the real question: Is it EVER reasonable for a hero to have 2500 armor?

forest for the trees, people.

The answer to that question is yes it is vary reasonable to have 2500 armor.

As such dose not require a fix easy or otherwise.

The combo is one of the healthiest otk combos in the game. It has some of the most counterplay and most reliable counterplay. Its a slow combo that requires quite a number a cards not a single turn combo or a small combo with great effect. Its a combo that when pulled of your likely to win but dose not win you the game outright even after gaining that armor you can still lose and I have quite often killed people with 2500 armor in wild for the fun of it. For these reasons the winrate of the deck is quite low.

OTK combos are NOT a problem they are a type of deck that has always existed and is INTENDED to exist. The bees 2500 armor combo is no different than any otk combo other than the fact thats its WORSE. Its a vary healthy combo. IF blizzard din’t agree with that statement would of been adjusted long ago.

If this were true (it isn’t), then how do you think Blast Wave works?

Because the spell is attacking all the minions? So overkill takes affect.

What do you think attack means, in the game?

Do any other spells attack?

If spells attacked, they would trigger secrets like Splitting Image, Noble Sacrifice and Defense Matrix.
