Specifically when cast with Violet Treasuregill. I had a second copy in hand that cost 0 and was active. I played Violet Treasuregill which played my second copy from my deck but it never returned to my hand despite costing 0. Is this an intended interaction?
Cost reductions don’t apply when the card is in deck. They happen when it enters your hand. If it’s played from deck it wills costs 4.
If cost reduction doesn’t apply in deck, then how is Treasuregill able to cast it? It can’t cast a spell that costs more than 2

I have no idea. Sorry.
was your hand full??
Maybe the return-to-hand effect has an unstated requirement that it has to be cast by you, rather than cast on your behalf by some other means.
Weird bug, thanks for letting blizzard know
