Ladder system in Legend rank is broken

Hello. I and most of players on Legend rank have a big problem with their ranking system. (probably, this is because of a new ranking system and it needs to be modified as soon as possible, beaucse it’s impossible to play Hearthstone on rank Legend 300+ for now)

For each victory in the “Legend” rank I get an increase in Legend place, instead of being reduced. I can’t improve my Legend number because victories are counted as defeats. Also, I’m playing every game versus Plat/Diamond players!!

I have many screenshots with my problem - I win, but my legend place increase. I can screenshot my every win to have an evidence of my problem. I win - I losing ranks, I lose - I losing ranks. Impossible to improve Legend rank.

Also, after stome days I noticed that not only I have this problem. I checked Twitter of one Hearthstone pro player (Tic Tac, check his account on Twitter) and saw his screenshots with the same problem.

“It’s okay though, you’re just playing for mmr now. Gonna take a bit for you to get better opponents, I started facing plat players after entering legend with 70+% winrate over 200 games ( since 0 star bonus ). Then after winning a lot I faced diamond 10 then 9 etc” - @TicTac_HS

'Well, I actually lost 100 ranks after going 17-3 this is gonna be fun" - @TicTac_HS.
“Going 2-0 and losing 4 ranks, OOF (1202 to 1104)” - @TicTac_HS

“I’m at 60% winrate over 30 games and I’m stucked at 1200? Ladder seems unplayable if I need more than it to grind” - comment from his post from another Twitter’s user.

"feels like system depends too much on your rank/mmr from previous season… cool it rewards consistency BUT IT SHOULDN’T PUHISH PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T manage to get top top" - @matff_HS

“Had exactly the same experience last season. Decided to climb on Asia, after not playing there for half a year. Got in at 2k legend~. Was facing Plat/Diamond players up to top300 and barely climbing ranks.” - @s8ris answered to Tic Tac’s post.

Have a look at all these comments by yourself. Just open @TicTac_HS on Twitter and check his posts.

I haven’t searched for other Twitters to find the same posts of this situation , but I’m absolutely sure that there are many the same posts from people around all the world who reached Legend rank and can’t play because the ladder system is broken.

Please, help me and others! Fix this issue in your new system!! I tried so hard to achieve Legend on the 2nd day of new season and now I can’t improve my positions because of this new system problem and I losing my positions in Legend and can’t do anything to stop that!

Multiple pro players has explained this on stream, Orange did so yesterday. You not only have a winrate that accounts to your climb but also a mmr which is based on your previous performence from earlier months, meaning you are more likely to reach high legend if you previous have reached high legend while if its your first time reaching legend the mmr will rank you much lower as most of your opponents when climbing to legend had a lower mmr overall. The way to improve your mmr is to keep grinding and next season you will have a better mmr when climbing due to your legend placement compared to a previous season when you didnt reach legend.

I understand that, but why due to this system other players in Legend like me should suffer?

The mmr system exists in the background all the time to make the matches fair. Since everyone starts from Bronze 10 now each season it wouldnt exactly be fair nor fun for a new player who makes his first climb to keep getting paired against top 100 players. Nor would it be fun for all legend players to face off against players who barely have enough cards to make a real deck.

The ranks are irrelevant and not fun now. Seasons don’t matter. If you lose a lot trying libram decks and auto-conceding to priest (because the games are long and dull) you are screwed for future seasons. In past seasons if I wanted to play thoughtfully with a strong deck I had a shot at beating my previous best. I no longer have a reasonable chance to do so.

dont bump old threads, start a new one if you have a bug to report.

in this case you are just ranting about your opinion, not reporting a bug. for opinions there are the multiplayer and community forums.

Hearthstone has not established this new MMR system very well. I have an account that’s been sitting at rank 25 for more than 2 years, after the ranked revamp, I’m getting matched against people with golden hero portraits and full set of legendary cards. It’s impossible to win a single game when only cards I have are the ones from the basic set.

I suspect that what we are experiencing right now is a result of the not implemented change from mmr matchmaking to rank matchmaking after you lose your star bonus. Like the old bug when they had to restrict matchmaking across the legend border (rank 10.000 legends were almost always matched against rank 4 to 5 players, middle legends against rank 1 and 2 and only top 2000 and up mostly against other legend players) after the first ladder changes, we have a similar problem now. Again it it the switch from rank matchmaking (old ranked) to mmr matchmaking (legend), only now turned around because of mmr matchmaking comes first, you lose your star bonus and go back to rank matchmaking or are already at legend (where you keep the mmr system). The switch after losing your bonus below legend seems to not working at all or only in a compromised way. The result is a matchmaking like in the old buggy legend times but in a milder version: at top legend you play mostly legends, lower and lower down the legend ladder you are matched against first diamond 1-5, than diamond 6- 10, than platinum players. I am pretty sure this “soft” border is the result of players with 7 8 or 9 star bonus (which used up this bonus) still getting matched by their mmr. Since even after losing your star bonus you don t see your opponents rank (contrary to the announcement, tested in wild) this problem does not immediately become obvious. But i suspect the frustration to get bumped down by being matched against higher players especially when you are climbing in ranks not reached before without a bonus is nowadays a common thing to behold in forums. So i can hope that the borders between the intended groups of players (bonus, no bonus, legend) get strengthened soon and work as announced before the amount of frustration about this not obvious bug (again i just suspect after observation) grows.
