I mean, with the new core set, there are a bunch of cards that are just better than him in every way. Illidari Inquisitor in Demon Hunter is significantly better - for nine mana, you can play it with you hero power - attack into a minion, killing it, then attack face with your hero. This is nine mana for eight damage to an enemy minion and nine damage to the enemy hero. There is no advantage King Krush has over this card. Same with Alexstrasza. Eight damage to face, over taunts. If you need it, eight healing. Better than Krush. A class legendary is outclassed by a neutral legendary and a class rare. A RARE.
Krush has beast synergies. You can copy him, summon him from hand, buff him in hand, and shuffle more copies into your deck.
There are demon and dragon synergies for Alex and Illidari Inquisitor. A core legendary should be playable and good standalone. Synergies should be available, but not necessary to make the card useful.
I’m not claiming he’s amazing. Just that he’s not as bad as he seems at first glance. The copies and hand buff are especially valuable for OTKs.
Yeah sure why not making it a 20/20 charge for 5 mana ?
You still haven’t learnt about how dangerous is the charge mechanic ?
His (valid) point is that Inquisitor and Alexstraza are better than charge. In quisitor effective has rush and charge (or double rush). Alex has charge ignoring taunts or healing.
Don’t forget Alex also has the option of using its Charge to “attack” a minion with Immunity (since it deals its ATK without getting damage in return), something King Krush also lacks.
Then why is it okay for Inquisitor and Alexstraza to be better versions of King Krush as standalone cards? I don’t think it would be any harm at all to make him at least 8 Mana, I doubt he would still see serious play even then.
Even beyond that, if inquisitor survives a turn it can push sixteen damage face. If you attack with it face, then attack with your hero, it’s pretty much game over.
Because the possibilities to work around beast tribe are not the same ?
Have you got a legendary minion that can summon 3 inquisitors or 3 alextrazsas with triggered battlecries ?
Can you go in wild and use mana reduction in order to give winfury to inquisitor or to alex battlecry ?
Those things seem like comparable because they are 8/8 that can barely hit face, but in fact, they are not quite the same.
But I guess it’s to much to ask to have people understanding that on a forum where people are complaining about Tickatus.
It’s true that there are hand buff /copy mechanics, but how many of them are currently available in standard?
Hand buff: there are some
Copy: dire frenzy which doesn’t look like an amazing combo (you have to pay 13 mana, then pay 9 mana for a buffed king krush).
Instead of buffing king krush (which is completely fine, but on the weak side), I would consider making some cards that makes sense in a big beast archetype.
In wild it is nice to have king krush with Katrina, Oondasta and Leoroxx; in standard it’s just meme.
If you win a game with king krush on turn 9, you would probably have won that same game with alexstraza; in another game, king krush is blocked by a taunt and you are mad because you could have played alexstraza instead, so complaining about it because it has charge is an overreaction
Yes you can. For both minion.
Ok for brann things.
Explain me how to doomhammer with DH.
You can’t apply that windfury to Inquisitor’s burst turn, which is what Touillette was referring to.
You can do it with Alex, though. Via Brann or corrupt the waters.
I’m pretty sure Zeph can give it
Very specific setup though, but here is not the question, even if in some specific setups, some minions can reach the same burst potential as a buffed krush, the beast tag allowing to be buffed and duplicated can not be applied to the others, the beast tag is really something.
Wait, was he scared that Brann + brann into 2x king krush would become too powerful?
Rexxar in wild is bullied by literally anyone and yet it may be too much to have a 10 mana - 2 cards combo that summons 2 king krush?
Anduin can Pew Pew for 16+ damage in one turn;
Mage can do even better before turn 10 (giants + quest);
Druid can kill anyone with Avaina + malygos;
These are the first that came into my mind, but I am sure there are others combinations that can do 16 damage in an easier/consistent way.
And we are also speaking about hunter: the class that can’t afford to play a combo deck because it lacks removals, healings and card draw
There’s litteraly a deck in standard allowing to summon up to 3 10/9 Krushes in a turn.
You can discover copies and tutor right now.
You can even mimic the Inquisitor with the 1/4 weapon for 1 mana.
I’m not a wild player, but I doubt wild is in danger of getting overrun by combo hunter (that class simply does not have enough board clear) even if they buff Krush.
And in standard, what combo could you do ?
Leoroxx ? He doesn’t look at cost.
Did I talk about wild only ?
Standard right now has a deck that can do things with Krush. It’s not a tier 1 today because no-one has optimized that yet, don’t know if it will be, but Krush is doing more that enough work in it.
