Kil'Jaeden Demon Hunter!

After taking a bit of a break from standard and mostly playing Battlegrounds, I am back to testing and deck building. I am currently trying to make Demon Hunter not be awful. I am also trying to use some of the new cards to try and make something that does not feel like solitaire or mana cheat. Any suggestions are appreciated. I will explain why certain cards are included in the current list.
First iteration - Draenei
Tried to do a build really relying on the Draenei package and following up with Umpire’s Grasp. They could get a semi aggressive start, but just felt clunky and left nothing of value after a board wipe. Just felt clunky and wasn’t aggressive enough.

Second(current) iteration - Kil’Jaeden
I am currently testing this version and it is doing better. It essentially takes the old Window Shopper deck and modifies it a little. It is doing… ok with a slightly above 50% win rate. Here is the list!

Class: Demon Hunter

Format: Standard

2x (0) Through Fel and Flames

Pretty fantastic card when being aggressive. Allowing you to have a big minion to remove something else the moment it hits the field.

2x (1) Burning Heart

Another very aggressive card that helps with removing a problem or getting some heavy face damage in.

2x (1) Miracle Salesman

Just one of the best 1 drops in the game.

2x (1) Red Card

This thing is just so dang good. You can reset Mag, remove a problem card for a couple turns, or delete a taunt to get lethal.

2x (1) Sock Puppet Slitherspear

Strong 1 drop that can push serious damage if left alone.

2x (1) Space Pirate

This thing has done some WORK. You essentially get to keep hitting them in the face for 2 OR you get an un-nerfed Umpire’s Grasp.

2x (2) Cult Neophyte

Dropping this on and combo deck the turn before they go off buys you a turn. It is also great on turn 2 to stop Warrior and Druid from ramping. It is honestly sometimes a Time Walk on turn 2.

2x (2) Greedy Partner

You REALLY want to get your Umpire’s Grasp, Window Shopper, or Kil’Jaeden to hit the field as soon as possible. He helps.

2x (2) Instrument Tech

Pretty Obvious. Draws Umpire’s Grasp

2x (2) Spirit of the Team

Great to drop on turn 2 to clear a 2hp minion. With a turn 3 Umpire’s Grasp you are swinging for 5 and can clear most minions with it.

2x (3) Clumsy Steward

OMG I lowkey love this card. Against control it has almost always read “your opponent discards their next draw.” The opponent will do everything in their power to get rid of this thing. There might be better 3 drops. But, this is by far the funniest.

1x (3) Dreamplanner Zephrys

Helps clear boards or kill the opponent. Its just a good card.

1x (3) Gorgonzormu

Gives you astrong follow up turn if your board gets wiped.

1x (4) Kayn Sunfury

Gets through taunts and sometimes just instantly wins a game.

2x (4) Umpire’s Grasp

I mean… It’s Umpire’s Grasp lol.

2x (5) Window Shopper

Again, it is Window Shopper.

1x (7) Kil’jaeden

I am sooooo glad I got this guy. Watching people panic when this guy hits the field on turn 4 or 5 is fun. I have gotten to drop him on turn 4 once and he just buried the opponent in value. He exists to ensure an otrherwise aggressive deck does not instantly lose in the late game. Also, it is just fun to let him rip after a DK plays Helya.

Pros:
The deck is fast and I have killed some of the greedy control decks before they get to go off. Many times they play a big taunt or the Starship piece thinking it will by them a turn only to for Red Card / Kayn to close it out.
Your midgame can be insanely strong since a turn 4 Window Shopping is still very strong.
Kil’Jaeden really gives you a fighting chance when the game goes past turn 7. You can also discover him from Window Shopper and drop him for 1 mana and have an amazing tempo turn while opening the portal.

Cons:
If you do not see an Instrument Tech or Umpire’s Grasp by turns 3-4 the deck feels clunky.
It isn’t quite aggressive enough to outright end games by turn 5 like Pirate Demon Hunter use to.
Lacks card draw.

The deck is fun and interesting. It just needs a bit more tweaking to really get there. That or they un-nerf Umpire’s Grasp lol.

Can’t wait to try it! I’ve been working on the same thing, and am trying to bring back Window Shopper DH. Please, try and lemme know what you think. I’m going to send you a friend request.

DH probably has some secrets undiscovered around demons. The Shopper deck would have a completely different character for example since new demons were released. I’m not saying shopper is a great card now but the demon pool being different shows the class is way different now.

Also I’m not sure people utilize outcast at its full potential, there are probably a few semi-otk decks in there.

Getting Kil’Jaeden or the one that gives you the 2 shooting stars for 1 mana is nice. It dilutes getting Mag, but there are some fun options. I wouldn’t say it is a better or worse pool. Just different.

It’s definitely not just mag now. Back when the shopper deck was first OP it was almost exclusively mag that you wanted to discover with the exception of the inquisitor being good late-game a quarter of the time.

Now even the reject is kinda good if it happens very early.

The Spirit Peddler can do some OP things.

Just killed a warrior turn 4 lol.
Handlock and Starship DK just got run over.
I think this list might really be something.

Lol, that’s literally how it feels to play the Sludgelock nowadays xDD Sometimes you win turns 4-5, without getting a scratch, sometimes you lose a prolonged game where you never had any chance

55% is not gonna cut it for me, though, I’m having 64% on Shaman

I am closer to 60% now, if not over. I have been on a sweep. Turn 5 Kil’Jaeden is back breaking vs some decks.

EDIT - Solidly into the 60% now. This deck is a ton of fun to play.
