I just had the opportunity to test the card in arena.
The way it works seems random. First turn, there is an untargetable minion with windfury. the card doesn’t blizzard . Instead, it polymorph a 2/2 minion!
second turn, there is a full board of minion, with an untargetable, windfury, stealth, 8/5 minion.
You’d expect either blizzard or flamestrike, right?
Ehhh, nop. Just cast ice armor , and I lose next turn.
the card doesn’t cast the best spell at all. Instead, it cast a random spell between the one that COULD maybe be usefull. Anyways, its bad, and no, its not a Zephyris on steroid.
Yeah, exactly, the text is misleading. The card doesn’t think, its just a weapon that cast a random casino spell in the pool available. Most of the time, it’ll be underwhelming. So you can’t really plan your turn based on that.
Its like the Reno hero card that costed 10 a while ago. Except its on a weapon. And the pool of card is only legacy vanilla spell. it’s really weak.
Your welcome. I understand the disappointment, the card looked really cool on paper, but its turn out just as a random vanilla spell slot machine.
The card doesn’t seem to take the board into account at all tbh. Sometime, it’ll just cast mirror image or ice barrier when any removal could have been better.
A junk card for mage. Amazing Reno all over again.
Some things never change.
And some players here say I’m wrong about Team 5’s treatment of mage. I’m not.
It has gone on since AR.
no, if you are talking about all of the “sick youtube clips” where it pyroblasts the streamer’s face, that’s a very low chance.
Someone did the math (I’ll see if I can find the source) but about 70% of the time the random spell reno casts has a positive or neutral outcome for the player. Not to mention, at the time, a 10 mana Plague of Death + Iron Hide was not only playable, but basically mandatory for slow decks.
So not only are you plain up exaggerating the truth, you also don’t seem to understand the history of Mage as a class. Typical of the mage troll. :\
Like I said I’ll try to find my source. That was years ago though so it’s possible things have changed though I significantly doubt it (since then we’ve gotten a lot of spells that specifically target enemies/enemy minions, increasing the amount of neutral/positive outcomes)
I wasn’t a fan of skele mage cause it was like a weak pally deck to me.
I did like Conjurers calling, cyclone mage etc.
Decks that kept up board pressure, and had reliable draw from your pool with no rng.
