Kayn Sunfury and Charge

Am I the only one who remembers the devs wanting to move almost completely away from charge minions? What happened to that notion when they decided to print Kayn Sunfury? Just asking for a friend of course…

(not begging for a nerf, just genuinely wondering why they went this route with DH)

I’ve been wondering this too. I’d wager most of us have been.

I shrugged and figured that blizzard gave pretty much every other tool to DHs, charge was just confirmation that nothing’s off the table for the darling newborn.

Daddy loves you, illidan! Now go pound your hanger dodging siblings into the curb and take their toys for your own!

Maybe they wanted to remove charge minions and give them to DH as unique ability. Next expansion they would maybe remove class card draw and make it DH keyword.

Im trying to stray away from using the word OP, but he just has everything. incredible tempo swings with outcast effects. insane card draw, never ending face damage, moderate heal and aoe clear, and as icing on the death cake a charger that not only ignores taunt but makes ALL ur attacks ignore taunt. I just wanna know why lol

Charge is out except for Dh. We give them the best charge minion ever made.

Next expansions mechanic is to remove the ability to win from everyone else and only give it to DH, every other classes cards are turned into concede buttons.

And they still have moved ALMOST completely away from Charge minions. I believe they have always maintained that any given approach they will have limited exceptions for the rotating sets. Kayn is not a move back to charge it’s a exception where it fits the class within a rotating set.

Tundra Rino, since it is in the classic set, is far more concerning then Kayn who makes sense in the very aggressive DH class and will rotate out.

they did

why do you think kayn is the first charge minion we get since the conditional hogs ?

Kayn is a finisher, just like King Krush is for hunter. You got no issue with Krush?

Krish can be halted by taunt, which is traditionally the counter to charge. If krush or leeroy could ignore taunt there would be mobs carrying torches and pitchforks to blizzard HQ

Kayn’s not gonna be doing more than Krush without a prepared board and/or both Twin Slices + Chaos Strike(s).

Or, in other words, Krush is ‘unconditional’, massive body with charge. Saying Kayn’s flatout better is simply not true.

to counter all these annoying priest decks ofc

You have got to be kidding me if you think Kayn is not better than King K. I would take this statement back now before you lose all cred.

Speaking of the Brann version, obviously.

Dinotamer? Well perhaps edit your post so its correct then. Kayn still better than dinotamer too in my view and its not obvious when u say the wrong card.

I honestly expected it to be obvious.

So druid retains a charge card, hunter retains 3 charge cards (one of which enables all other beasts to charge), warrior retains 2 charge cards, and shaman retains a charge card all as part of their classic/basic sets. You are worried that the new class, which was designed as an offensive class similar to the hunter, shouldn’t also have a class charge?

Yes, Blizzard has moved away from charge. But the DH is a new class, and for as long as the other classes retain their class charge card(s), DH shouldn’t miss out for being “late to the party”

The issue is charge + ignore taunts

So not only does it have charge but it breaks game mechanics

And trust me, dh didn’t miss out on anything. They got it all and in most cases better than what other classes have available

The OP’s issue is regarding printing a new charge card. What you’re saying may be your issue, but not relevant to the topic.

Kayn isn’t OP. Every class has legendaries that do something unique. DH having no ability to remove minions allows for it to approach finishers in a different way, with a low damage charge and game wide taunt ignore. It adds flavor to the game, rather than just reprinting the same class mechanics on a new skin.
