Just got a "gift" from Blizz (WoW not stones)

Free toon boost to 60 and free play all weekend on the new expac. I haven’t played WoW in years. Should I give up stones and go back to WoW or at least give it a try? Should I ignore like an annoying ex gf?

Anyone playing WoW these days? How is the state of the game? And level 60…lol they must have done a level squish or something.

I hear the latest expansion is pretty good, an upturn after the last few. Still won’t get me to go back, as the way I liked to play fifteen years ago isn’t compatible with my current lifestyle.

Raider? I raided some during ICC days but mostly was pvp all the time, every time. I did BG’s and arena. Spent lots of time crafting and exploring.

I loved the game, just burned out after playing so much for so long. Haven’t really played since Pandaland. Debating going back.

I had my fill of Wow. Played for like a decade and had the most fun during Wrath.

I’m ignoring the gift. Not getting sucked into a virtual world again if I can help it.

Wintercraps was the best BG ever. Loved it!

At least give it a try if nothing else. Yes, they recently squished the level from 120 which was the Battle for Azeroth Expansion. Reset it to 60 for Shadowlands and now 70 for Dragon Isles.

I have a Night Elf Huntress 65ish and finished the first DI zone but I stopped there. For some reason, the sub fee turns me off. I’m paying for so many other services that I don’t want to pay for another.

Maybe I’ll return. It’s genuinely not a bad game and it’s casual and have great QoL improvements. I’d never play Classic again, put it that way.

I was thinking about getting back into it and leveling from 1… Classic wow. Not sure what server but just causally play.

You should try it out if you have the time. I love Warcraft, but WoW is a pretty big time sink. The beauty of Hearthstone is that you can play in smaller time segments.

This post gave me PTSD. Do you realize who you were replying to?

I know exactly who it is. I like to not hold grudges.

I played a couple weeks of this new expansion. It’s okay to say the least. It’s accessible for casual and so far the story is just above “meh” as the Aspects restore their, um, “Aspect-ness”. However, I like to raid and I actually could find the time on specific dates and given the large amount of people playing, I’m sure I could find some consistent guild to roll with.

So, I decided to just pub into a raid. I knew the fights from videos at best, so I did okay, but OMG did the worst aspect of this game come rearing its ugly head. The one thing I HATE this game has garnered and what ALWAYS pushes me away is the elitism. Essentially, you execute flawlessly, or you’re laid into and/or kicked from a raid. I’m all about success (I used to be in a top server guild some expansions ago, so I know the boss grind), but it was the second week of the raid release ffs.

I’m not saying the WoW community as a whole is like this throughout the whole game, but if you’re a raider, it’s like trying to find a job right out of college where everyone demands a Master’s degree and 1,000 years of experience for $10 an hour/100hr weeks.

Anyway, that’s my take, and I’ve taken my last step in WoW. P.S. it wasn’t me who messed up. I actually impressed myself for doing as well as I did mechanics/dps wise (Windwalker Monk)

You calling me out? What did I do this time?

Wow. I havent heard about that game for a few years (maybe because I wasnt actually looking for it).

I am amazed that game is actually still around with that outdated subscription mode.

EDIT - gods… there is subscription + paid expansion + microtransactions? I guess even if you knew nothing about the game and somebody told you the game has this holy trinity of marketing wet dreams, people would guess its made by blizzard

At least try Dragon Riding and do some of the obstacle courses if you do nothing else.

Still debating this. I have not downloaded the game though I doubt that would take more than a half hour or less, not sure the load on the computer these days as it’s been years since I played.

I suspect I would just get bored quickly but since it’s free to try…

I just can’t imagine playing WoW casual. I used to devote a disgusting amount of time to either pvp or preparing for pvp. I will never have time like that again.

Literally nothing. But I still haven’t recovered from last time.
