Honestly, so feel bad game against them - you force them to spend everything and right after they play their reward they draw 4 cards for 0-1 mana to draw more to draw more and kill you right away alltogether for 5 mana.
You need to fix these decks, because discount + infinite draw + infinite damage is just something, that should not be in the game. The same problem as warlock (who has as well huge healing).
Pretty much. I’m down for some strong combo decks, but the infinite draw of mage and the mana discount aspect just makes it impossible to play anything board-based against them.
I dunno how you fix that without making a lot of changes, but there it is.
Typically I think they should probably just gut Incanter’s Flow some more (at this point “but not below 1” makes a lot of sense to me), make Runed Orb only hit minions, and maybe make Ignite 3 mana, but deal 3 damage.
Nerf the questline - make it either +2 spell damage, make it +4 spell damage on first spell every turn or make it +5 while it lives.
The first one might give you one-two extra turns (I dont like it though).
The second one would make them do some decision, not just use all spells face, but whether they want to draw, clear, go face… Still impactful, but would force different playstyle.
The third one seems best, it would change it into pure combo deck, where you need discounts, you need manacheat, you need to draw your deck and find perfect cards to utilize it - you would have to use it at moment you have your combo. 5 mana malygos.
Nerf draw power - just dont give mage option to draw 4+ cards for 0-2 mana and 2 cards for -1/0/+1 mana - if cram session would be draw 1, when you have spell power, draw 2, it would be afair spell.
Nerf IF to 4 mana and take away the “arcane” sign on it. as it will not support quest and it will delay again 1 turn, it will be still maybe worth (4 mana discount 23 cards?).

Burn decks are fine, but not in current state, dealing 70 damage in 2-3 turns and having no fatigue, having insane draw, because hey, why not draw 4+cards for 0-2 mana?

Every class in this expansion is busted, and Mage is tier three, but even that’s too good for the whiners. Mage must be complete bottom tier garbage before they are satisfied.
It can get buffs - for some decent archetype, not this annoying bullcrap. I was calling for nex cards for hero power mage in miniset, I was asking for same in the new expansion, I was asking, why there is no support for freeze mage.
The thing is, that honestly I hate this bullcrap - you cant interact with this stupid deck. You either burst it or you die - you cant outheal it, you cant outarmor it, you can only race it.
Before I got to diamond 3 I autoconceded every single match against mage, because it is just the worst feeling to get matched against him. Infinite draw, infinite damage.
and those 30 damage before turn 10 - you mean in 1 turn for 3-4 mana, right?
It cannot and i speak from experience. Mage has had every conceivable win condition and playstyle that can be named and all of them were whined and complained about until Team 5 killed them.
This is no different. The deck isn’t even tier two, and yet, because it beat you, it’s too good and must be murdered.
Yeah, especially if they play 1-2x IF and most expensive thing in the deck costs 5 mana and gives back 4 lol, so everything costs 0-2.
archetype? There used to be highlander mage, which was fun, there was secret mage, there were 5+ more archetypes in recent years.
But yeah, everybody hates mage, cry me a river with your almost infinite draw, discounts and infinite damage and dont receive damage from fatigue, if game moves that way lol.
30 damage (with finished quest) is 2x ignite (10-12), 2x orb (10 damage), fireball (9 damage) for 2 mana grand total. With 1 IF it is 7 mana.

At this point they could delete mage and people would still be crying about their hurt feelings. For a tier 3 deck it’s absurd the amount of hate that mage constantly receives in the forums.

At this point Just go and delete the cards. There would be 0 difference and probably have a better effect since people would still try play It otherwise.
why not ? you need to build your entire deck with this goal in mind dedicate how many 15 slots to complete the quest consistenly and you have to draw your entire deck while keeping control of the board
Indeed the quest reward is too powerful. It needs to change to +2. It probably would be enough to make it a fair deck, but I still would rework Incanter’s flow into something like a 3-mana arcane spell: add a random arcane spell to your hand. Lower the cost of all arcane spells in your hand and deck by 1.
