youll see him posting random rants like this no matter the topic
Seriously though. That was unexpected
I just started Magic the Gathering Arena a week ago and the new player experience is a bit daunting but they give you a ton of starter decks to unlock (lots of free cards). I’m still aways from a competitive meta deck, but I’m still able to rack up wins in casual with the 12 or so starter decks.
Not sure if hearthstone recently changed the new-player cards but I remember getting hardly any cards when starting a free account awhile back.
All my friends who tried hearthstone quickly gave up on the game. Hearthstone is a meta heavy game (even in casual) and they don’t give you many good cards to stand a chance with.
All my friends who tried this gave it a shot. They kind of liked it until they got into multiplayer and were constantly matched up with people who crushed them. Like I said in my previous post, even MTGA (which is much more complex) does a far better job of allowing new F2P players a chance at having fun winnable matches. Even if those matches are just casual…
Like many CCGs, they require time and effort to learn what card their opponents are playing and making do with what they have in collection.
MTGA is not significantly easier on the F2P player than HS is, although the starter decks and many more game modes do help.
So yes, hopefully the lack of new players can send a strong signal to devs!
You can try to make friends and play with them. Maybe you don’t know but in friendly games you can also borrow the other’s decks. You can have a lot of fun in that way if you want. (Social features like “Guilds” would be great, but not necessary.) Additionally there is Whizbang. That alone playing against friends can be amazing. So I don’t think you need all that much to have fun. But of course I don’t know if that’s also how you like to play the game. Still maybe you should take that into consideration.
Let’s be very clear about this game. This game is pay to win and it favors those who have been here forever and have the time to play hours at a time or those who can pay a lot of money. This is not a game for new players. This is not for casual players and anybody who says differently has been here for a long time or spent a lot of money to create specific decks and continue to do so.
You want to know how new players can enjoy this game: pay money. What does the devs care about? If you are going to be buying the next thing they add to the game.
yeah, I’ve been playing about a year now.
I spent over 150 € in one year. Thats already 3 or 4 other game titles (as a whole).
I craft Odd paladin > worthless now
I craft Evolve SHaman > becomes worthless afterwards
I make Odd Rogue > Becomes useless now
I make Reno Hunter > Not good compared to other renos now, so, more waste of time, money and effort.
Leaving me no choice but to play Casual only, or make boring decks like Pirate/Mech or Secret Mage and get utterly bored by the grinding process and the frustration.
I have spent over 150 € and I cant build ONE single deck that I like, and that is also competitive and allround strong.
Makes me totally reconsider after one year whether I want to continue with this game…What do think we are? The Rockefeller foundation? Hello.
And FYI: DELETE THE SECRET MAGE, NERF IT.
I will rope all these Secret Mage / Pirate Warrior / Mech Paladin players for 25mins, cuz, I think it’s pure garbage and annoying. THeres nothing fun about it, and I got oceans of time so, that is fooking that.
