Is this normal?

So most decks I create that start off really hot regardless of what mode I play in always seem to start off great then tank. Why is that?

Because Blizzard will rig the match-up to push your winrate down to around 50%.

Not thinking conspiracy just legitimately trying to understand here.

OK. So, lets run with that.

What do YOU think it is if not some sort of factor out of your control?

Do you think it’s LUCK? Or bad luck? Because that’s just voodoo magic bcse lucks not REAL.

SO, you wanna believe in magic over the chance Blizzard wants to artificially “correct” your winrate and match you up with people similar to your abilities and deck composition?

Can’t help you if you think it’s “coincidence”.

I just wanna understand and not argue.

You’re trolling because theres nothing to understand.

No one on these forums can answer your question.

Now go play in the street.

I am seriously not trolling. I mean if that’s all your going to tell me can you point me toward a link. I have been trying to get some info. Legitimately trying to understand why.

Let me ask YOU a question…

Do you think it’s something Blizzard is doing within the game? Like programing wise?

OR

Do you think it’s you and your skill or lack thereof. Maybe you have low tolerance for long play periods due to a lack of Vitamin D.

I’m just trying to understand your question better.

BCSE obv you’re not trolling.

A link to WHAT?

What do you want a link to?

The secrets of Hearthstones difficulty and matchmaking settings?

So the Wiki explanation of the matchmaking was what I was looking for mostly. And the Wiki says this "As you reach the rank of your skill level, the average win rate for a deck you’re playing will start approaching 50%. The game does not force this win rate upon you, it’s a consequence of balancing a good deck with bad plays, or a bad deck with good plays. " So now in ranked I started with this deck at 7-0 and I have lost 6 straight. Gonna keep record. Now 7 losses in a row. 7 Straight Wins and now 7 Losses in a row.

Blizzard tries to make an individual’s win rate 50%, so everyone feels like a winner. Even if you play a broken class with 70% win rate, like Paladin, it will put you against a better Paladin player.

Same happens in Overwatch, and other pvp games.

You win games, your MMR goes up, you face better opponents, which makes losing more likely, which lowers your MMR. Eventually you lose enough that you switch decks, and the cycle begins anew.

Or the game is rigged, I guess. Which raises the question of why would anyone play a rigged game. You’d have to be monumentally stupid to willingly get screwed out of wins by an unfair algorithm.

pretty much what kingofheaven said

ignore the conspiracy ppl(they’re upset that they cant hit legend)

if you win too much you end up facing ppl more at your skill level(IQ wise + high quality deck)…both your IQ and deck quality matter to climb deeper in…you eventually reach a point that you get opponents that are too skilled for you and wont be able to progress further

bronze-gold the joke leagues(fill of ppl with either bad deck or low iq)
platinum - Diamond 4 average iq and usually everyone in those league have a high//decent quality deck
Diamond 3+ is a mix of lucky average iq ppl and greater player
Diamond 2 to Legend 600 (if you hit D2 your bound to hit legend eventually)
lots of rly good player there
Legend 600-150 truly amazing there
Legend 150-30 best of the best there
30-1…only Genius that deep in XD

take notes of the leagues milestone i marked…that should tell you there a huge difference between these ranks…ofc you can technicly tank your mmr to cheese diamond 5 to legend(doing so will net you something like Legend 6000-10000)…your friends wont recognize you as a true legend player if you tanked your mmr(which the legend number will speak itself about it)

The more you win, the more the game estimates you are a good player.
The main purpose of the matchmaking is to make you play against players with you level.
Do the more you win the more the opponents are strong.
So the more you win the more you’re likely to lose.

Besides what people already Said about your climbing MMR, consider: Even bad decks will Smash bad players, particularly in the low ranks, with little sinergy; sometimes you will even get a good player for not considering a rare card you’re using.

When you climb, and people start to understand How to Mulligan curve and tempo with their decks (which, chances are, you’re still discovering the best plays), your deck’s weaknesses get abused, even though it’s not readily apparent to you.

Install a deck tracker and refer to your game history.
If you need help thereafter, post your full history here.

It’s not a bad question, but the bulk of the population here have theories (myself included) since Blizzard keeps a pretty tight lid on their match making algorithm, and these theories range from reasonable to tinfoil hat.

But that’s all they are. Theories. Blizzard has claimed their only match making variables are Rank and MMR (an invisible score you acrew from winning games). Blizzard keeps it vague because gamers in general are a rather scrupulous bunch who would use the knowledge to game the system (like ‘smurfing’, making a new profile to be matched against newbies) and cause a need for regular shifts in the algorithm.
