Is the game really rng?

Hi, this is a real question (not from a frustrated person and non ironic).
I have play since a while, but I started to know when I will lose or not early in game, this is maybe crazy but sometime I draw only my hight cost cards and sometime I draw the perfect curve but nothing around the middle.

I can almost predict who is gonna win after 2/3 turns…

I don’t know if this is possible that the rng is rigged, can someone tell me how it work in Hearthstone server if you have any informations (with source if possible).

I know that you can’t have real random in comptuter, so I wonder what is their randomness starting point, is it just the wolrd time or does it go to an algorithm ?

It would be amazing if a dev could answer my question.

That won’t happen in here. Maybe on reddit and/or X.

If you play a curve-dependant deck (aggro, tempo, etc), sometimes it might look that way, but remember that you missing a drop doesn’t matter much if your opponent also misses their, or if all your draws happen to counter theirs.

Yes, true randomness doesn’t exist, but for all intents and purposes, RNG is close enough, at least enough not to be a malicious party conspiring against you personally.

Well, how can I say, If I’m getting the perfect hand (and discovery) my opponent almost can’t answer fast because their hand is horrible. (The same is reverse if I got an horrible starting hand)

I shold have just ask for informations about their rng.
Thank for telling me that they will not answer here, I will try on reddit I think.

When you get an unplayable, horrible starting hand, any hand from your opponent seems perfect, and vice-versa xD

You are missing the point of my question and it seem this forum can be overflow with littles answers pretty quickly. I will closed it, if people are interested about rng you will maybe find my question with better formulation on reddit

Your formulation was good. It might be that my answer is unsatisfying to you.

Good luck anyway

OP thinks that their observation is about the game not having normal randomness.

OP’s observation is actually about the mulligan phase having far more skill impact than they want to believe.

How could you not satisfy his feelings of game being rigged? He didn’t want the truth he wanted validation of his preconceived notions.

It’s pretty simple, if you are looking to rank up, you need to observe which class isnt being played at the moment that you are queueing in. The system adjusts the win rates automatically, so basically you need to find out which deck is in the dumps when you play. Thats how you rank up to Legend. In Legend situation changes due to the fact that the higher you go the better the players are.
The statistics on 3rd party program sites can give you some info, but its not 100% , its just a probability that this deck or that deck might be infront, usually not so reliable, but better than nothing.
As for the “RNG”, it doesnt exist, the system is made in such a way that it adjusts the win rates of classes artificially, leaning towards the utopia of 50% for every class.
It’s not rigged, its a controlled environment from a corporate product.

I can assure you this game is more RNG-based than a dice game

Yes, the game is really rng.

Some would say too rng (particularly with some of the card effects), but it’s rng all the same.

It’s really bad RNG, if you ask me.
They claim it’s based on the elo system in chess.
I played chess competitively for years.
I have never seen anything this wanky.
Even Chess dot com does a better job.
Maybe they should just purchase their matching algorithm.

“Based on” is a pretty liberal phrase to use xD But of course you already know that

Reminds me of the movies with “Based on a true story” note, which is more science fiction than reality, let alone factual reality

What I wrote has been said by the devs, in print, more than once over the years.
If it is based on elo, then it is the worst execution I have ever seen.

it´s both rng and rigged. And you will always get games where it´s set for you to lose… you cannot have a big win streak. that´s how the game is built. Just have fun while playing as you cannot compete in it for the skill, rather for luck.

Don’t we all?

Unironically.

To a point, sure. There is a reason why cognitive dissonance exist after all.

There are also two options when you are faced with it and not everyone chooses to deny reality.

Having played this game for almost eleven years, and tracking every game using HSR,
I firmly believe that anyone who thinks the matching does not consider deck composition is living in a fool’s paradise.
I know what team 5 has said.
I also know that if I had a dollar for every time I told someone:
“I’ve never done this before.”, I could pay down on a much nicer car.

Yeah it’s easy to predict who will win, if you decided you will lose.

PS some find it hard to think if they played their cards perfectly.

Have you ever thought of that when you were winning, or only when you were losing?
