Is Jepetto Joybuzz Useful?

I’m considering disenchanting a golden Jepetto. Does it see any play in either Wild or Standard? I’m not sure what I would do with the dust.

I’ve never seen him used competitively, but there exists a meme deck for just about everything, if you’re interested in such. The problem is that his effect is most useful for combo decks, but the fact that the cards you want to discount must be in your deck rather than hand when you play him makes him too inconsistent, I’d imagine.

Safe to DE a golden version since you can always re craft a regular at no loss later- but again, if memes are your thing, spend some time on Google first

I love using Jepetto in any Combo/Value-oriented deck. He was a critical piece in the Highlander Shaman deck I used to hit Legend this past month.

Personally I wouldn’t disenchant it, but the fact that he’s Golden means that if there is any Legendary you want more than him that disenchanting is worth it (this applies even more if you don’t care about shiny cards to begin with).

Whenever I do see him played, I know bad things are going to happen to me very soon.

I use him in my highlander deathrattle dragon priest.

Wouldn’t call it a core card, but Jepetto definitely sees fringe play and can do some pretty busted things a 1 mana Malygos or Kael’thas can do some bonkers stuff!

I just saw him being a part of 2 Wild Legend Reno Mage lists. Though for the life of me I don’t get what he’s doing there.

He’s used in Togg Druid.

He was played in Maly Rogue, Standard. It was a decent deck after Leeroy went HOF.

I crafted him as an impulse craft awhile back.

It feels like he has potential for shenanigans, but I haven’t quite found the right setup for him. Decks with only 2 targets like a Kael, Mechathun or a Malygos can work, but are limited if things get drawn out of order and there’s no backup plan. Decks with more than 2 good targets have the obvious problem of failing to discount the right card.

Not only that, but the 8 mana cost is nothing to sneeze at. For Wild, games are sometimes over before then (either someone is dead or hung on long enough that it doesn’t matter anymore), making Joybuzz hard to justify.

I feel I may just opt for the Casino approach - have a deck that’s not deliberately built around him, but could highroll if he pulls out the Reno or whatever. Or maybe there’s a reshuffle deck I haven’t thought of; it’d be nice to shove a Prime back in the deck, then auto-draw them.

Pretty much, you usually see him in decks with either

  • little draw

or

  • combo synergies

By that definition, he fits in some rogue, mage and priest decks. Other classes have had and probably still have archetypes where you can use him (i.e. Malygos shaman etc.), but they lack tools to grind it out to the point where he’s a safe play.

He enables some pretty wacky stuff.

I like him. Had him in a quest Mechacthun warlock. Also fun in Rogue when you can shuffle.

Save this card, it does have potential if not now in the future for sure.

I used to have a golden jepetto joybuzz as well and i clung on to that thing praying that it will be useful… It never was. Got 1600 dust

I just tried him in Reno Mage.

Saved my bacon against Quest Mage and Mecha’Thun Warlock by drawing into Brann Loatheb.

He works in this otk warlock deck with dark portal. Turn 4 dark portal into jepetto, turn 5 jepetto into 1 mana alex and maly, turn 6 win the game.

He has a lot of uses in fun combo decks of massive burst variety. None of them are too competitive as far as I know but they’re fun to tool around with. I crafted him specifically for this purpose and used him a bunch.

In my opinion he’s pretty useful to have (certainly more useful than half the legendaries in the game) for some archetypes, mostly from the combo type. One of my favorite decks uses it.

If that’s not a playstyle you like or you really need dust disenchant it otherwise I’d keep it.

Used him in quest shaman for a bit, wasn’t bad, wasn’t good, eventually cut him.

In long term - yes

In current meta - no
