Everyone plays the same 5 decks, and it’s mostly smorc aggro deluxe hyper turn 3 gg i guess i got outskilled decks.
I normally don’t play druid but since priest is either protoss or bust, which i hate to play i decided to try druid because they usually have interesting decks, i tried Aviana and taunt drood. Aviana could highroll but it lacked any sort of control, and taunt was just way too slow, didn’t matter if i had good draws or not. Quest druid was so bad i almost cried, no wonder that i’ve seen exactly 0 quest druids haha.
Now i’m sitting here with some meme mill druid in wild regretting all the dust i wasted on trying to make any fun standard decks.
GG aggro players i hope you have fun facing mirror matches until the end of time, because that’s where you and this game are heading.
I do believe it’s gotten worse over time judging by the little I’ve had to play. I believe it has to do with the new pre constructed deck approach to new card design. We wild players feel the same staleness from this design approach and it is VERY VERY rare to see a truly original deck. It seems there is only one way to play new cards.
Yup standard sucks. Wild also sucks according to most people who post after being bent over XD
Only Bgs is ‘fair’ with the small caveat that spending money makes you win more (season pass) but that’s the only place left thatskill and not copying a deck code, buying the deck, and playing it per instructions will get you more wins.
Lower ranks of standard are flooded by easy-to-play Paladin decks. As you climb up, you start dealing with more complex and greedier decks, but invariably find that they tend to gravitate to similar playstyles that include payouts that just grind you down. Lots of DKs, Warlocks, some Priests and others trying to make something that isn’t meta work.
The only thing that’s going to freshen thing up is rotation, too bad that’s a long ways from now. Intentionally publishing incoherent garbage isn’t a strategy for a dynamic meta. Would be nice if the newest sets had a few cards that were relevant with prior stuff so we could make some of these failed ideas functional.
Standard has sucked for a while. After multiple balance patches throughout the year, we got an update like a month ago where the devs basically tapped out. For any sports fans out there, there’s one offense that will almost always cost a head coach their job: telling the media they don’t know what to do when things aren’t working out. Some people will see those kinds of posts and applaud the transparency, but I see that as a dev team that’s lost at sea. Not exactly the kind of thing that inspires confidence.
Im genuinely a bit surprised, and dismayed, they havent hall of famed the starcraft miniset. Yeah, murloc pally is an issue in the sense that it absolutely strangles any midrange experimentation, but i feel like the miniset is the real weight dragging the fun down.
I think they’ve largely dropped that the past two years, there’s A LOT less parasitic packages and the ones that do exist allow a lot more flexibility.
If they wanna do that, just buff stuff. A lot of the decks that aren’t working, aren’t working not because they’re inherently weak or because they’re missing pieces they need, but because they can’t compete with the high power of some aggro decks or the mana cheat from others. Or some late game INSANE swing where the opponent ends up with 60 Health and a 30/30 on the board that you couldn’t do anything about.
Like Protoss Priest is a pretty manageable, fun tempo deck until they drop an archon and a colossus on the same turn after they’ve played a 6 mana 10/10 all while controlling the board resurrecting blowfish they cheated out of their deck.
And that’s a Tier 4 deck.
Like it’s not unbeatable, it’s just doing A LOT and doesn’t really have a lot of exploitable weak spots other than other decks which are cheating even more. (Like Fyrakk Rogue)
Egg Warlock is just cheating out multiple massive 20/20s that require hard removal to clear, Quest Warlock is just spamming healing and face damage until you’re dead (but has a much weaker early game).
Dummy Warrior’s throwing down a massive taunt that you HAVE to kill and if you don’t they just keep copying it.
And if those decks got nerfed/fell off, we’d pretty much just have a lot of imbue decks waiting in the wings which aren’t… much better in a lot of respects.
Rotation WILL help to some extent, largely what we’ll lose are the top end power swing cards. Mostly starships. And that’ll allow some other late game strategies to maybe emerge that aren’t so overwhelming and linear. But I’m not holding my breath something else won’t just emerge.
They can nerf it, there’s no need to hall of fame it. But it’s also really just Priest that’s competitive at this point.
