On day one of the expansion I wasn’t able to play a single game without troubles because of developers. I looked at the new cards and realized how unablanced they are… again. You have total meta OP cards which are not gonna be nerfed. Activision needs to create those cards to take out money from their customers.
They also probably decrease the amount of legendaries, because from 80 packs (in summary) I got only 3 legendaries… the less amount ever. Yes, I bought them with in-game gold so there is maybe some penalisation for good drops… who knows… but it is Activision.
Additionally I realized, that HS is even more RNG game as it was. The game says who wins. Not the skill, not the deck type. When someone needs exact dmg to kill you he always had it. It comes from RNG via “random” spells or card draw. All this mechanics is just to spend more money to be competetive. And it is no fun at all.
So after the crying post I need to ask… Do players really like this?
I am sometimes beeing matched with same people even in the afternoon on Europe server… is there so significant drop in player base that you see same players more than once? Is it a sign that HS is dying ?
Things about Legendary drops in packs that you should know:
Guaranteed 1 Legendary in first 10 packs of an expansion
Average 1 Legendary every 20 packs of an expansion, with worst case 1 Legendary in 40 packs.
So with 80 packs:
the worst case would be 2 legendaries, but nearly getting the 3rd.
average case would be 4 legendaries, and halfway towards the 5th.
any more than that is a good case.
I got 3 in first 85 (but I opened more packs and it evened out)
If we’re talking about Watch Towers, those cards are common and rare, and easily acquirable.
As for the power level of the cards, I’m thinking the previous couple of sets have more powerful cards. Very few of the Epics and Legendaries this set are what I’d regard as staple, Blademaster Samuro, Kazakus, maybe.
There’s a point that the game RNG and matchmaking is to get players to spend more money. But more “competitive”? Not necessarily.
its on its way down…especially for wild where they literaly said to their players “we dont care about weither your having fun or not”
last 2 expansion had some very bad cards designs…well faire being much worse than barren(serious issue cards from faire)…and Loatheb(old card is starting to be out of control with the new cards(abusing his battlecry)
other than that…less than a month ago they had to UN-Nerf an oppresive card(crystal core)…making wild players quite angry at that
overall unless they pick up on their mistakes the game gonna go real down…personnaly i’am on my last thread b4 i go pew pew for good
to add injure to blizzard statement about not caring about their wild players…some standard players took their side and are laughing at the wild players(they can laugh now…they may be the target someday and they wont be laughing anymore if it occur)
I need to say that wild is the only thing why I still wanted to play a HS.
I had a long break from wild, because I was able to create some good ladder decks in classic so I played the ranked.
But since this expansion I wanted to focus more on wild. Because it is fun to create a deck as you wanted and try different playstyles with your own. In standard you are beaten by being creative and not playing the exact decks as Activision wants.
Maybe with the change of wild I will have a longer break from HS… maybe forever I will try it on my own and I will see.
I think this is still a very appealing aspect of Wild. If you don’t face the couple of top decks, the rest of the playing field is pretty open for all sorts of shenanigans you can think of.
Been hard to do that in Standard. The best I could do was some cards differences here and there, but the type of deck was still similar. You face a small amount of strategies that are built a certain way and if your deck’s not up to it, you’re going to have a bad time.
I think 8500 is a big amount of gold to got just 3 legendaries… To got it you need to save for the whole previous expansion. From those 3 you always got 2 bad, so you dust them and then you got 2 legendaries which are actually good (and only if the 1 opened is suitable).
Also the tavern pass only viable with reall money is a typical Activision move. I looked at the end rewards and as f2p player you mean nothing for them. They just got the same portraits as last expansion. They just say f2p players… we dont care about you. You mean nothing for us. Just be there for whales to not wait long in queque.
It’s almost as if businesses don’t exist for the purpose of providing free luxury entertainment…
I know plenty of F2P players that enjoy the game quite a bit more than whales, and do so successfully on the ladder. Blaming one’s poor experience on someone else paying money is whining 101.
I hope it is dying and i really really really hope it will die and noone would play it anymore. Design, cards, styles, everything just got boring and unfun to play. Taking some of the most funny cards away (any class) and replace them with rubbish unfun cards ?! No thanks.
Legendaries are good to have, for fun. But as I was saying for Standard, it can be hard to have a deckbuild for fun that uses the legendary you opened, and doesn’t just get crapped on.
But if the legendary is so good that it’s staple, then it raises the barrier for entry for competitiveness/winning more games (eg: Jandice Barov is still pretty brokeback, any Rogue and most Mage decks can just use her)
Yes Hearstone is dying. Like everthing else on the planet nothing lasts forever and will inevetibly die.
Some thing slower the others but all comes to an end.
