Back in the day I really enjoyed mtg I played mostly a blue control deck that stole minions. The new galakrond priest reminds me so much of my old blue mtg deck in hs form. It also looks extreemely fun to play as each game im sure is different with all the stolen cards and such.
Only problem is that I would have to craft 4 legendary cards and 2 epics… that’s alot of dust. I can afford it but am hesitant. It’s not a t1 deck but it looks fun to play and might jump a tier with the recent nerfs? Should i craft it? Is it really as fun as it looks?
Its solid deck if you like control.
What cards are you missing? If the cards arent deck defining cards, try to substitute them and play a few games if its to your liking

It’s the most enjoyable control deck I’ve played in a VERY long time.
Depending on what you’re missing and how much dust you have, the worth of crafting it can only be determined by you. Some things could probably be subbed.

Im missing basically all critical expensive cards…
Madame Lazul
Mindflayer Kaahrj
Soul Mirror
2X Fate Weaver
Murozond the Infinite
In my experience, you don’t really need Lazul or Kaahrj. They’re nice to have, but I wouldn’t call them critical. Soul Mirror is a must, IMO.

Fate Weaver can be a pretty big impact card if your hand is loaded and Murozond is often a big value play later in the game against a variety of classes.
Here’s my current list:

Year of the Phoenix
2x (1) Disciple of Galakrond
2x (1) Renew
2x (2) Penance
1x (2) Sethekk Veilweaver
2x (2) Shadow Word: Death
2x (2) Thoughtsteal
1x (2) Wild Pyromancer
2x (3) Apotheosis
2x (3) Breath of the Infinite
1x (3) Madame Lazul
1x (3) Mindflayer Kaahrj
2x (3) Shadow Madness
2x (4) Fate Weaver
2x (5) Shield of Galakrond

To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
I’d swap:
- Soul Mirror for Plague of Death (Soul is way better though)
- Lazul for another Veilweaver
- Khaarj for either Reliquary of Souls if you have it, or probably Overconfident Orc
- Fateweaver is a harder sub, I’d go with either Convincing Infiltrators or Sandhoof Waterbearers.
- Forgot Murozond lol. Nothing really like him tbh. Depending on what you’re seeing a lot of, either a second Plague for late-game board removal, Natalie Selene if you want stats, or Holy Nova if you’re encountering a ton of Aggro.

Murozond is really awesome against mainly rouge, used after they cast wand and flood the board so you basically steal that too. I’ve seen some list cut it though cause honestly I usually randomly generate at least one per game from galakrond.

Is it fun? Yes. Is it good? Highly meta dependent.
Also, highly advise against crafting lazul or Kharj. As others have already said, they’re good cards but not key cards at all for the deck.
Blue Permit decks?
Priest got various removal yeah. But warlocks got much more efficient variants, and draw power. Warlock will be closest to blue.
But, removal pile deck that took people’s card? Isnt it memedictus deck? Too bad it only works in standard at its time. Too slow for wild. But, its fun if you like doing memebrew.
It’s fun when the games aren’t over by Turn 7. Had a few of those today. But it’s still a Tier 3 deck so if you’re the ultra-competitive type then it’s probably not worth it. There are a lot of frustrating losses with the deck. Turns out that generating cards isn’t as good as drawing cards and having a win condition to draw to, so plenty of time you just get stomped because your opponent drew 10+ more cards than you.
I’d say go ahead and craft Khaarj if you want to play Priest. While not a key card, he’s a very strong card and the best Tempo that Priest has access to. I’m confident it’s going in every non-Res Priest deck until it rotates. Lazul is much more sketchy, and not really required at all.
Soul Mirror. Going in everything for two years. Definitely craft.
Fate Weavers probably aren’t a big deal. Half the time I’m stuck playing them early to fight for board without their effect. They’re nice when your hand is full of garbage Priest cards, I suppose.
I love Murozond. I’d hate to go without. Big help against Rogue on the Treasure turn. Helps prevent that “Opponent drew 10 more cards than me” situation I was talking about.

Who would have thought huh?

Do you ever keep Murozond in your starting draw against Rogue? I’ve seen some numbers from HSR that suggest it’s a good move, but keeping an 8 mana card makes me nervous.

It’s a really fun deck that’s the closest we got to classic control since Ungoro probably. I made Legend with it this month and the last one and in my opinion you don’t need Mindflayer Kaahrj or Murozond the Infinite. I just run a slightly modified list I got from Metastats and have a 120/89 winrate. In case you want to know it’s:
2x (1) Disciple of Galakrond
2x (1) Renew
2x (2) Mo’arg Artificer
2x (2) Penance
2x (2) Shadow Word: Death
2x (2) Thoughtsteal
2x (3) Breath of the Infinite
1x (3) Madame Lazul
1x (3) Shadow Madness
1x (3) Vulpera Scoundrel
2x (4) Fate Weaver
2x (4) Holy Nova
2x (5) Shield of Galakrond
2x (5) Time Rip
1x (6) Kronx Dragonhoof
1x (7) Galakrond, the Unspeakable
1x (7) Soul Mirror
2x (9) Plague of Death

No, never. Definitely not something you’d think would be a good play. But I suppose that overall, I don’t often get Tempo’d out early. I lose more often to “lol 10 Kronxs into my deck”.

Honestly the only cards out of that list that are “must-crafts” imo are Soul Mirror and Morozond, I’m running a more defensive list without Fate Weavers and it’s doing great , I do use Mme Lazul but you could easily replace her with a Vulpera scoundrel (She is a very fun card though, so I would recommend crafting her at some point), I don’t even run Khaarj even though I have the card, not that he’s bad, just don’t need him imo.
Definitely give the deck a try, it’s a blast, between Sethekk Veilweaver, Invokes, Mme Lazul+Thoughtsteal you can end up with almost any combination of cards in your hand, lots of decision making about how to use the assets you have in this particular game to your best advantage.
It’s not the most powerful deck, and the games tend to be longer, so if you just want to climb as fast as possible not a good choice, but I think it’s the most fun Priest has been for a long long time.

What do you have in place of the Fate Weavers?
If you own archmage vargoth, he was free around rise of shadows I believe, he can be an excellent value bomb in combination with thought steal or most priest spells in general. He has the added bonus of eating literally any removal your opponent has cause of the PTSD from Rez priest who ran it lol. If you don’t have him though can consider bone wraith or even that five drop dragon that generates a few one cost spells, both are commons.

I’m running Imprisoned Homonculous and Vilefiends, and they are flipping fantastic, running at over 70 percent winrate! Absolutely locks out DH and Hunter, getting an Apotheosis on an Imprisoned Vilefiend when it “wakes up” is just crazy good, instant heal and then they have to deal with a chunky Lifesteal minion.
Makes the match-up vs Rogue slightly worse, but that’s always bad, I’m very happy with the Fate Weaver free build, I tried it and was going to swap back to the more standard build, but it went so well I’ve stuck with it.

I must disagree with you on warlock and blue. I did not like normal blue decks, but I like warlock here. It’s probably because warlock reminds me of black with the demons and discard. I’d argue that priest is like white control, and mage is the blue class. Druid would be green, and I’m not sure what would be considered red. I mostly remember red as the destroy everything color.
What I remember from red are lightning bolt to the face and im dead. RDW foevah. Hunter class strike really close to it.
But yeah. Warlock as black is a fair point. Black got draws and removal with certain sacrifices in the form of health for them.
