I think Astalor might not be ok. Not in all classes, of course, just in Druid.
Druid might use him too well(similarly just like Sire Denathrius).
The main advantage of Astalor though is that he doesn’t need any infusing, he is ready to play as soon when drawn.
Astalor(3 of his forms) by himself makes up for good armor package insted of all the other cards to combo with Anub’Rekhan. You simply play:
Brann Bronzebeard + Innervate(or use extra mana if WIldheart Guff has entered the battlefield, but he is not needed) + Anub’Rekhan + Astalor Bloodsworn + Astalor, the Protector + Astalor, the Flamebringer.
It is one turn play that requieres only 4 cards while allowing You to play 6, leaves You in hand extra Astalor, the Protector and Astalor, the Flamebringer while also doing 2 damage + 32 to all enemies.
I am going to try it in combination with Lost in the Park. Questline might grant survavility in early game against aggro decks and armor necessary to survive against decks like Svalna combo priest. Then after completing the Quest You play:
Brann Bronzebeard + Innervate(or use extra mana if Wildheart Guff has entered the battlefield, but he is not needed) + Anub’Rekhan + Guff the Tough + Astalor Bloodsworn + Astalor, the Protector + 2xAstalor, the Flamebringer = deal 2 damage, deal 2x32 damage amongst enemies, gain 16 attack… in total 82 damage in one turn from hand. Not to mention You still have extra armor and Astalor, the Protector in hand…
What do You think? May I be right and this is too strong combo far too easy to acheive or will it fall to aggro or obscene damage of improved Hunter Questline and Frost combo DK? Or maybe it will just always get robbed of all key cards by omnipresent, strong disruption minions like Theotar?
UPDATE > Topic summary:
My final deck is 30 cards focused on ramp, clearing the table and drawing cards, so it works better without a quest, and the target combo (Brann + Anub’Rekhan + Astalor(x5!) is so strong that it does not require Guff the Tough. I reached Legend rank with this deck, winrate: 76% (41 games, 31 wins).
The upcoming patch limits Anub’Rekhan’s power, but it will still be possible to deal 64 damage from hand with that combo… With so many classes nerfed at the same time, there’s a good chance this deck will remain very strong.
