iOS 12.5.7 - Crash on Home Screen

Greetings,

iOS 12.5.7 ; iPad Air 1 ; MD789CL/B

Hearthstone finally has the option to adjust Graphic Frame Rate to a lower resolution!!!

Still… iPad Air 1 which used to run the game flawlessly in the 2-4 first years of Hearthstone became unavailable to run the game after the release of battlegrounds. IMO there is no way that the original game process (Wild format matches) suddenly become unavailable due to the addition of another game mode (BGs) especially if that new game mode is not used!

Currently, on iPad Air 1, after launching the game; that the hearthstone logo flashes blue; that the home screen is passed through; that the Hearthstone box appears in an orientation of 45 degrees; the app crashes before the Hearthstone box reaches the normal orientation. Thus, it is impossible to run the game on low frame rate!

On the Apple Store, on iOS, it says that the game requires iOS 12 or later.

Has anyone been able to run Hearthstone on iOS 12.5.7?

  1. Could the programmers update the game so that it doesn’t crashes on a device/iOS version that is listed to work with??

  2. Could an option to lower frame rate be added from outside the game? Via Settings (iOS grey cogwheel) > Hearthstone?

  3. Could the app be updated to start on low frame rate by default?

  4. Could the app detect the iOS version and for iOS 12.5.7 that it automatically adjust frame rate settings to low frame rate before Hearthstone download starts from the Apple Store?

  5. During the first launch of the game, before it requests to download additional data, could a pop up be added and offer the user to select frame rate and afterward the user would be prompted to download addtional data?

Thanks for considering returning the game to work with legacy devices!

Edit (2025/03/02): Alas… https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/28991 iPad Air 3 for it has 3 Gb RAM.

Battlegrounds and high definition cards and heroes’ portraits turns a device which ran the game FLAWLESSLY into an obselete device… Surely, Blizzard or Microsoft can’t release an option in-game to reduce the graphics… Not too much eco-friendly and these actions speaks for themselves towards how they value their custommers.
