I agree with you. Hearthstone could have an autosquelch feature.
Which was/is one of my concerns too. I just donāt believe my āfearsā are warranted anymore. The people doing it manually are doing it anyway (squelching and treating you like a bot) and making the function automatic, wont, i dont think, āspreadā across the population.
There may be a small bump in squelching when someone gets triggered and toggles squelch on and āforgetsā to turn it off when they cool down.
My initial and greatest opposition to squelching has always been, not the toggleā¦
Itās been āwhy do you squelch every match manually?ā I think itās nuts but I canāt change how people are, so making squelch automatic will simply make this group happy, and wont bother me.
I play on (android) cell phone only. Would much appreciate a squelch that works / stays put (unless I emote after using it).
I just got BM-emoted while I am 100% sure I did squelch at the beginning of the game (I only had the option to remove squelch).
It is not even working, I understand why they do not want to work on this BIG PROJECT which is auto-squelch.
Are you playing on a mobile device? Far too often, if you experience even a brief disconnect, the squelch will fall off. Unfortunately, Iāve seen no indication that they are fixing this issue.
How would they fix it if the problem is with your connection? I play exclusively on mobile and rarely get disconnected. If I do, itās because Iām playing on a shared wifi with too many users.
I think you misunderstand. Iām not saying they need to fix the connection issues. They need to fix squelch falling off because of the brief disconnect (or simply receiving a phone call). It should at least maintain through the match. A toggle would solve that issue (in addition to being a nice convenience for many players).
Havenāt played hearthstone in some days. Sit down. 4 games so far.
THANK YOU. (For killing their minion because now they get two squirrels?)
THANK YOU. (For conceding when they facerolled me with an OP rogue deck in casual mode, I guess?)
The other two games I squelched immediately, but I am already annoyed playing Hearthstone.
Same. Why does every other game have this auto squelch feature? I didnāt play League for like 2 years, but played it over winter to find out they have emotes. First thing I think - āDamn. These are annoying. Can they be muted?ā Take a look in the options menu, and yes they can be muted. Why does this company suck so much?
I donāt care one way or another.
But ask yourself. Are you just annoyed at everything?
Getting mad at a video game could illustrate some personal issues.
How about an option to turn off my portrait exploding because Iām sad I lost and donāt want it rubbed in?
Again, keep your feelings out of the discussion.
Not Blizzards fault youāre soft.
Itās a silent online game now. Get rid of the (threaten and well met emote) and Iāll be happy. Instead of Well Met, how about Great Game? The threaten one is totally stupid! Iām playing a game with you, I donāt need to hear that one at all .
Come on. Blizzard can do better then this.
Actually, I think feelings are, in part, crucial to the discussion. Not, per se, to the manual vs auto discussion, but certainly to the reason behind many players squelching routinely. Implementing auto-squelch is simply a convenience for those who are squelching every match. But often, folks new to the discussion do not understand why so many players squelch every match and why the emotes are so bothersome. And that part of the discussion is all about feelings.
First, if you would like to see such a feature, feel free to start a thread and suggest it. I donāt expect youād get much support, but you never know.
Second, the hero exploding does not bother me so much, as it is a scripted graphic rather than a personal jab from my opponent. Similarly, the automated emotes that prod a player donāt bother me nor do the emotes in the solo content, since those are all scripted.
Come one dude, itās me. You know my portrait example is just that, and example. Trying to illustrate that you cant just be mad at a feature without considering every feature.
Do you get mad when āXā?
When a person has a better deck than you because you canāt afford it?
You concede when you see a certain class across from you?
You rope people and afk because you got whooped?
You try and play fun and creative decks on ladder and get mad at net decks?
You get mad at a cartoon bubble because you think itās ill timed?
Maybe you need a break from the game? Thatās what I mean about feelings dude.
You canāt yell at Blizzard to add a toggle because youāre cranky.
And Iām not saying they shouldnāt add the toggle. PLS L2READ
Iām saying that a toggle may not be your āissueā.
(your is generalized, not just you Skruffy poo)
āWhy is Blizzard making me angry?ā is not an accurate and fair question. You are not a salty angry person because Blizzard wont add Auto Squelchā¦ itās just a symptom.
- Take a deep breath.
- Realize itās just a game
- Remember you hate emotes
- Donāt forget that
- Press squelch
Donāt come hereā¦ āWell, I forgot to press squelch and SURE ENOUGH!!! Someone EMOTED AT ME AND I GOT ANGRY!!!ā
Well, stop forgetting to press squelch.
Iām playing a game with you
ā¦that involves attempting to MURDER your opponent with extremely violent effects.
If the game is too much for you to handle maybe donāt play it.
āYou incur my wrath!ā really really bothers you? How about the fact that your opponent is trying to end your virtual life by smacking you in the face over and over with knives and swords and spells! Thatās cool?
Again, maybe some of us need to re evaluate the real problem.
Nothing is worse than thinking you got a decent player who doesnāt emote all game, just for them to BM you before they land the finishing blow.
We need Auto Squelch
Couldāve squelched him at any point in the game thoughā¦
The monotony of doing this every single game is what players have an issue with. Does your volume reset every game? Does your deck back reset every game? Does your chosen hero reset every game?
AS is a very simple request and feature to add to the game.
Come one dude, itās me. You know my portrait example is just that, and example. Trying to illustrate that you cant just be mad at a feature without considering every feature.
But here we disagree. I donāt think you have to look at every possibility. Each of those cases should be evaluated on itās own merits. And while I know you arenāt really upset by the hero explosions, my point in suggesting that you present it as feedback in itās own thread was to illustrate that any of these ideas should be evaluated separately. They arenāt interrelated at all. But if someone really really doesn get upset by the portrait explosion, they absolutely should send feedback to the dev team. Same with the other notions you listed. And, in fact, many people do just that:
When a person has a better deck than you because you canāt afford it?
Countless threads on F2P vs P2W
You concede when you see a certain class across from you?
See threads on giving the option to ban certain classes.
You rope people and afk because you got whooped?
Plenty of threads on roping and punishing ropers.
You try and play fun and creative decks on ladder and get mad at net decks?
Among the most frequestly seen threads.
Maybe you need a break from the game? Thatās what I mean about feelings dude.
You canāt yell at Blizzard to add a toggle because youāre cranky.
In my case, I get just as annoyed with an obnoxious emote regardless of the outcome of the game. Itās the emote that triggers. And sometimes when it does happen, it does, in fact, cause me to put the game down when Iād otherwise continue playing. And thatās not good for the game. (And I know you mean a generalized āyouā, Iāll just note that I donāt think Iām yelling at Blizzard, just inquiring and prodding).
And Iām not saying they shouldnāt add the toggle. PLS L2READ
I know. And I appreciate and recognize your position on the issue.
Donāt come hereā¦ āWell, I forgot to press squelch and SURE ENOUGH!!! Someone EMOTED AT ME AND I GOT ANGRY!!!ā
Why not? Why not come here and vent frustrations about the emotes?
Well, stop forgetting to press squelch.
Which is what we try to do. Sometimes we do forget and sometimes the squelch just falls off for no good reason. But all that goes away with the implementation of the toggle (along with all the complaints about the emotes).
Couldāve squelched him at any point in the game thoughā¦
Thatās true. I squelch nearly every match to try to avoid the obnoxious emotes. Sometimes I have to squelch multiple times. We all get that we can squelch our opponents. Many people, like me, are squelching every match. What weāre looking to do is be able to set it once and leave it on until we decide to turn it off.
One of the most common sense things that have ever been said have been by Mr. Autosquelch.
They need to AT LEAST fix manual squelch to not drop off when the connection is lost. ( on mobile devices)
That has to be really aggravating.
blizzard loses nothing by implement auto squelch. the fact they havent is because they are troll company. same with tyrande and many other stupid decisions
