Illucia is just a bad card that doesn't even help against combo decks 60% of the time and it shouldn't have been nerfed

For real, literally 99% of the time it helps more the opponent than me. And even against combo, Priest doesn’t have any draw, so it’s usually a “it’s turn 8. Have you drawn Illucia or is it one of the 18 cards in your deck?” We get that crappy 2 mana Discover a Spell from your deck but 99% of the time tracking is just better.

I literally think they overnerf Priest to the point it can’t get out of the gutter and they they call it balanced because Priest can put a 2 card 10 damage board clear but it doesn’t work because both cards do nothing by themselves and you can’t do anything about consistency.

Priest is literally the highroll class that makes the opponent feel bad when it wins because it needs to highroll to the moon to win, there isn’t a “Turn 1 Deck of Lunacy” in Priest. In priest you literally have to have turn “3 to 14 answers” by drawing them 1 by 1 or some stupid thing like that.

Illucia is great and powrfull when used correctly reminds me of a C’thun Priest that wanted so badly to “burn” my win condition affter several turns of both not playing much, the guy gave me a C’thun part and it was game loosing for him.

I’m sick of this game design. Priest is annoying as f because it literally doesn’t have any plan except “survive” and it’s a meme in Facebook Priest communities. Literally Priest has to be the best deck on ladder, using half it’s deck because you either won, or countered the opponent deck when you draw that 15th card.

Illucia is a terrible card overall. It punishes your opponent for saving combos or answers in hand while you are yourself encouraged to burn all useful cards.

Basically it is supposed to be a card whose power comes from the threat of its potential use vs it’s actual use. Ie if it is heavily used in a meta, opponents are encouraged to play less control or combo decks and more burn or agro decks. Cards that shape the meta in this way should simply not exist in my opinion. That said ticketus accomplishes something similar, but sees more play and is arguably less punishing of good players so I don’t find it as egregious as Illucia. Overall if Illucia becomes a highly played card I will likely quit Hearthstone altogether as it would be the nail in the coffin for me.

Ilucia is a decent card and hard to use correctly, which is a good thing.
Personally, I’ve been loving Priest this expansion, playing a lot of Control Priest and Corrupt Priest. It’s nice to go back to a more OG Priest style after years of resurrect nonsense really put me off what used to be one of my favourite classes.

I think control is just… bad, I was playing N’zoth Priest and it was fun a couple of days until it wasn’t. Your win condition is only good against rogue and Hunter, and you would have won against hunter even if you didn’t play your win condition.

Generally speaking Priest is just unfun to be played from the last 4 years and counting. I literally had 7k Wins 2 years ago with the class and I have close to 1.5 more wins in this 2 years.

Priest should be a control class, but yet they nerfed every single aspect of it, including being good with silences.

That’s the point of it being a bad card. You literally should not be playing it in any deck with a breakable win condition like Cthun because even if you don’t have it in hand, you can draw a piece on the turn coming and ruin it anyway. Then any 10 cost cards like Yshaarj need to be used before you play her as they’ll just drop it on their turn so if you ever draw it, good luck playing her without losing the Yshaarj/Yogg. So then you’re basically limited to playing lottery decks with Sethekk if you’re running her. Sure you can ruin their deck, but if your deck can be ruined then so can they.

By no means am I saying it’s terrible, but it’s not something you can put in every deck and it harshly limits what you can put in said deck as a win condition.

I got sick of seeing kingsbane and secret mage in casual and whipped out rez priest since we’re just playing top end decks in casual apparently. I run LK in mine and I had gotten 2 of the remove top 5 from deck and put minions in play among several death grip. I got a lucky deathgrip on her and honestly the way the card functions would have just ruined me because he would have used army of the dead(aforementioned card) and it would give him the minions while removing my deck. The POTENTIAL is there for her to be good, but the downsides in your own deckbuilding are far too limiting.

if wild its only ever a good card vs combo…flamewaker mage
some rare time it work vs aggro to delay dmg…or if vs mill rogue they hate getting illucia shuffled into their deck(ruin their entire game plan)

you should never play it vs control unless you got a near empty hand with bad cards and unlikelyness to topdeck something rly strong…or if your desperate to snag a reno for healing(if they play reno)

anyway zoth priest is awful in wild right now…thats why i decided to drop it this month…got tired of getting tickatus burned and glare lock shutting down board removals by making them unplayable with Loatheb…not to mention the un-nerf to quest rogue wasn’t appealing to keep going

well…Illucia is not exactly the easiest to play card…you gotta be able to read your opponent hand in some match up…and other match up she gotta get play on specific turn…generally she get play on turn 5-7…vs aggro either turn 3-4 depending on your hand…board situation…if your struggling with decision making…geist is a good replacement but is less good than Illucia at deep legend

If Illucia would be a bit better, everyone would complain about it on the forum instead of complaining about Tickatus :smiley:

Not sure about this take. I’ve been playing Priest and it feels fairly solid. Galakrond rotating out reduces the clown fiesta feeling by quite a bit, and Draconic Studies generally gives a big boi to play as a win con now the pool has been reduced. Xyrella is nutty, that sort of board clear with an easy to meet condition is great, and the 4/4 on top makes it overall poggers. If you’re meeting lots of Face Hunters its a very good pick.

Illucia itself feels like a tech against decks that like to keep burst in hand, like Mage. Its fine if you just use it like that. You dont need to play it every game, you have enough other things to do.

i disagree. Priest had many fun archerypes before the “rework”.Ever since that rework the class is boring to play, anoying to face AND usally weak at the same time.

Illucia is the best design card of all time, my only real complain is being priest exclusive instead neutral.

It is not brainless OP card you put in everything like old Patches, can backfire easily if misused and in the right hands can save a lost game, finally a card reward really skill instead curvestone or pure random BS.

We need more cards like this and not less.

Illucia feels like the most difficult card to play in the game. Especially in priest where turns are rarely ever simply “play on curve”. Playing her at less than 10 mana vastly reduces how much impact your turn could have. Playing her on an empty hand suggests you are either deliberately wasting cards to play an Illucia bomb, or that you are playing some kind of aggro. But again, an aggro deck reaching turn 10 is not ideal…

It’s definitely bizarre. And since you can’t discover it, you have to include her in the deck if you want the opportunity.

I have her in my decks because the netdeck said so, but I find she usually goes unplayed. Of course if I remove her, I’ll never get better at playing her…

I did too for a while but illucia felt like a dead card when I had her. Never felt good to play her so I dropped her for moonfang. Now moonfang is not great but at least I can play it without worry and with priest heals it’s harder to kill without direct removal.

Moonfang seems like a great card to play alongside hysteria. Pre-nerf hysteria would have maybe made Moonfang an auto-include.

**actually maybe not that great, I dunno. Issue now is that we have scorpid for that beast tag N’Zoth rez too. Pre-barrens, Moonfang would have been the best beast for sure,.
