If mage doesn't get nerfed in wild by Tuesday, I give up on wild

There really is no reason there should be a deck in the game, that has three turns in a row with just two cards. I can’t have any fun playing wild anymore, with every other game being a quest mage. I think it’s better to just craft more golden cards and forget wild exists. Wonder how much dust I can get from dusting all of the wild cards. Am I really the only player who had enough of mage?

I agree that the 3 turns combo is BS.

I don’t mind the other version of the quest because you can actually play around it, or at least try to.

3 turns is almost impossible to stop unless you’re playing druid and managed to get a board full of taunts and 100 life (which I’ve managed to do and win some of those games).

However, I did lose some games even though I had maybe 50 armor and a few taunts on board ? This is really stupid.

Yes, Mage as a class is cancer in Wild and needs to be nerfed. If nothing in terms of meta is changed in Wild after a few weeks of the new expansion, I’m gonna craft Golden Open the Waygates.

You’re better off crafting the deck, using it, and dusting it when it gets nerfed than you are to craft a new Standard deck, so I wouldn’t give up in Wild just yet.

Someone get Brian Kibler to comment on how retarded Mage is. Maybe that’ll get them to nerf it quicker.

Reminds me of last night I played some quest mage (non highlander). I was comboing people out on turn 8.

Went to watch my friend play some games. He was playing Priest past turn 10 an I said to him…

“Past turn 10 with no extra turns? No 0 mana 8/8s? No free spells generated?”. Wow l2p! Lol the deck is broken.

I’m ok with them nerfing the interaction with vargoth if they delete darkest hour and balance kael’thas too

but i’ll wait and see just incase a pirate aggro DH pops in wild, it might hurt quest mage enough

Let’s be honest, DH is very uncommon.

I’ve only seen one guy playing that this season. It’s a really greedy deck that loses all the time if it can’t pull that stupid combo.

I do agree on one hand, but on the other i’ve faced plenty of them on these 3 days past, actually, what i’m facing the most are warlocks as of late

and the same thing about the combo can be said for both decks: sometimes I get all giants and no quest done, some I get the quest but no giants, some others I get killed the turn before I get to do the combo; and the same can be said about all combo decks in wild except maybe razakus but I just hate that deck

Well I hate to break it to you OP, but there’s a literal 0 percent chance of any nerfs happening by Tuesday. There’s a new set/class/meta coming around that might shake things up in Wild, so the earliest you can expect a balance patch is like 2-3 weeks in the future when Blizz has an idea of what things look like and which things might need to be changed.

It was nice having you here, I guess :ok_hand:

Is it? Granted I’ve been playing around Diamond 8/9 mostly (reached Diamond 5 within the last hour), and while I wouldn’t exactly call it a common deck it was still a solid 5-10% of games on my climb.

It’s less common and less consistent than Big Priest, but it’s growth in popularity came from recent placements in Chinese Wild Ladder and it requires no brain for a guaranteed outcome. Maybe 10% of my matches are Warlock, and it’s split somewhat evenly between DH and Cube.

As druid though, a well placed Poison Seeds on turn 8 is pretty much a guaranteed win against it. Other classes don’t have it as easy though. I can see the popularity of it go down as more druids push into the Wild Ladder.

Really the only thing that’s consistently viable at T1 is Quest Mage variants and Jade variants. Cubelock and Even Shaman are a close second.

Maybe I just got lucky then, currently at Diamond 2 in wild and only seen the deck once and beat it.

Maybe because it’s not that great of a deck, people in the lower ranked floors bracket tend to play it more because there’s not much at stake so even if you get rolled over it doesn’t matter

I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen big priest. I didn’t even mention secret mage. Let’s face it no reason to play anything but mage in wild.

I’ve been performing well against mages with my Jade list and Cubelock.

The only thing that’s really annoying is playing against the same deck over and over.

You can roll your face on the keyboard and make legend with a wild mage. Build any mage deck and you’re good to go basically.

Get legend with Elemental Mage in Wild.

I’ll wait. :yum:

If everybody’s playing mage, then your statement isn’t true because they’re just playing the mirrors on an even field.

Plenty of reasons, in no particular order:

  1. Darkest Hour
  2. Raza
  3. Kael’thas
  4. Mech Warper
  5. Carnivorous Cube
  6. Mayor Noggenfogger

I’ve been playing a Book of Specters Elemental Mage in Wild for a while, trying to slowly grind out my 500 wins Mage portrait 3 (or sometimes 6) wins a day. Only in low Silver at the moment, despite being stuck with an 8x star bonus to begin the month.

The first day of the new ladder system was miserable. It took at least two hours to get three wins while still in the Bronze League. Yesterday was better, but considering I mostly played Wild in the 15-11 bracket for the last several months before the change, and my highest ever rank there was 9 in February after the ladder change was announced, it still feels like my MMR is higher than where the fun/jank decks I liked in Wild are located.

For comparison, aside from my Book Elemental Mage, the other two decks I’ve played the most in Wild are an Infinite Dinomancer Warlock and a Menagerie Highlander Shaman. So, I really haven’t gone for strong meta decks at all.

My take on Wild Ele Mage is of the Baku variety. Pretty good times, but obviously doesn’t stack up to the meta tyrants.

this is true, but I blame streamers calling it the “best undisputed deck”, it popularized so much that even the guys who were playing something different were forced to play it too

Magic The Gathering was smart enough to realize that going against a deck that is able to take more than 1 turn completely screws up any balance and is extremely frustrating to go against.

Turn taking in any card game is sacred. It’s something you should not screw with. MTG has tons of counters and ways to screw someones strategy and they still banned the card that allows extra turns.

Hearthstone has no excuse. It should be removed.
