I STILL don't understand the bonus stars

OK, I’m still not getting it. This chart was helpful:
hearthstone.fandom .com /wiki/Ranked#Gaining_stars

But, now that I’ve finally ranked up, then lost a game, I’m now receiving one fewer bonus stars. I’ve gone from 3 to 2 stars.

Do I not see 3 stars again until I make it to Silver 5 again??

Ugh, with the whole 50% win rate calculations, and matches against people who have been playing for years, I’ve been stuck at 2 stars for nearly a year!

If that’s the case, then I’m thinking I should just trash my MMR until I am again playing people with decks that are more at my level.

Your start-of-month star bonus is from the higher of your MMR, or previous-month final rank (or always at least 2).

During the season, your star bonus shrinks by one every five ranks (until it drops to one). Every five ranks means when you reach Bronze 5, Silver 10, Silver 5, Gold 10, … .

Thank you. That helps a great deal.

Don’t forget that the number of stars you get is doubled when you’re on a win streak (starting with your third win a row). This bonus will be lost when you lose a game. This bonus goes away when you reach Diamond 5, so you can’t ride it to Legend.
