I play solo content as well and have been very curious about dusting cards. I’ll be honest I’m a bit scared of the idea that I would lose some possibly good cards. Whites are not worth dusting IMO(or are they). Blues cost to remake if I need them again. Purples are even more costly and so on. If I dust the wrong card and its a NEED for solo and it costs too much I don’t want to be stuck.
I started playing this again to save on my sub because I cannot properly play WoW or SWToR because well I’m a full time worker with a 50-55 hour job most weeks. Also, I do enjoy paying attention to my wife while she watches trash TV. I have purchased several packs and she told me my “free” game is already costing more than the sub games I was playing. Anyway that’s why I am picking and choosing when I do spend actual cash so does anyone have any HELPFUL advice
I don’t ever dust cards unless I already have 2 or more copies of them. You can if you want, but just like you I am always like “But what if I need it for that special circumstance.” Even tho it’s never going to happen. I would recommend playing Arena and learning how to win in it. It is the most value you are going to get from your coins.
For spending cash, don’t buy packs that are not in a promo. It is much more worth it to buy them when they go on sell. Don’t be afraid to spend money on a big purchase if it has value to it. Make a mental budget of your monthly entertainment money. If you don’t spend it for that month carry it over to the next.
Card collection shouldn’t be a concern for solo content.
For PvP (Casual, Ranked) well there are certain cards you may be able to dust but you do have to be careful. Depending on how much you play the game and the cards you have, you may want to keep that epic because it could see more play in the next expansion or two. However examples of cards that you can dust if you need it include Arcane Golem and Kidnapper.
If you’re trying to save on your sub by playing Hearthstone then I unfortunately have to say this game is not a good choice for that. There are other digital card games that are more F2P friendly and you can play more casually. HS you can play F2P, but it requires discipline and trying to catch up if you miss a set is quite tricky. Arena does help with that though.
If you do want to make purchases then buy the special bundles when they have them. Otherwise, for regular purchases you want to buy in bulk (40/60 packs), and can save even more with Amazon Coins.
