I miss duels, man

Duels was so sick and it bums me out every day that it’s gone.

Allow me to explain:

  • Deck building constraints along with new heroes/hero powers fostered really creative, interesting brews, but didn’t require a huge collection because of the 16-card starting deck and singleton restriction.
  • the roguelike deckbuilder aspects from the solo modes integrated seamlessly into a mode where you’re drafting a “complete” build over the course of your run.
  • the changes to the solo treasures for multiplayer were just perfect. none of them felt too overpowered so it really felt like you were just choosing the treasure that best fit your deck as opposed to mana crystal every time it showed up (obviously mana crystal was still one of the best, but that’s just always gonna be true, and other treasures could regularly be better)

Anyway. No real point to this post other than I just really damn miss Duels.

Same. Duels kept me entertained when I was bored of Standard. Now I just simply don’t play. Well done devs.

Same. There were some archetypes that drove me mad, but that’s HS for you.

I wish they rethought this and bring it back. Nothing like the thrill of awaiting to see which buckets you got.

What is this duel mode you guys are talking about?? I quit at the start of descend of the dragons expansion so I have no idea.

We now have the 2 extremes. Extreme netdecking on Constructed and extreme drafting on Arena. On the first you play the “who copy pastes decks better” and “who can pilot better” boss and on the latter you play a “who can build mediocre decks better with random cards” and “pilot a bad deck” boss. We need a format that does both.

I envision a format that you select at first a small selection of synergy cards (e.g. excavation or libram or asteroids) and only then you can draft the rest of the deck randomnly.

Also Duels was between the extremity of Constructed and Arena too.

It was a pvp version of the solo content, you pick a hero, build a 15 card deck, and as you won or lost games, you got buckets of cards to choose from

Instead of just not adding new sets to duels they deleted it :unamused:

I miss it too. The first version of Twist satisfied that Duels itch. This version of twist is just constructed, so it’s not scratching that itch.

try BG. It’s quite bad now but still fits your need: even better, it requires zero cards and zero battle control
