An incredibly necessary progression system?
yea right thatâs some total b (the video pitched progression changes as a good thing lol).
The old system was absolutely perfect except for new players.
big exception, and there were other ways to help new players not get discouraged than to completelyâŚyou knowâŚerase any ladder achievement feeling or goal of getting legend.
They erased the whole penalty for losing on ladder.
currently the penalty for losing a match in ladder is like not a factor bc floors everyhwere and star bonuses magnified.
So no the whole restructure was game ruining w/o a doubt.
it was not a necessary progression add on.
hereâs a good top 10 mistakes / reasons hs isnât fun much anymore.
-
Ladder restructure, paring off mmr not rank, no risk, no reward to matches.

Arena is pooled, it is mind numbingly boring after you play a lot of arena and know all the wanted cards and CANâT play around many of them bc the cost of holding a card for playing around say bunker sergeant or so isâŚlosing the match bc you dont have some constructed deck with mana cheat and board clears and or removal and so forth and draw. Arena is a small, small, tiny pool of the cards in the game and its THE SAME cards match after match nothings new about it regardless of opponentâs class. Blizz earlier pitched the pooling of arena as ânow you can play around x and y card! and show off your arena skill before you couldntâ andâŚwe canât play around cards much bc even if we assume they have it what we gonna do pass on like turn 5 and lose the match so we played around fishy flyer or something? Like, come on blizz, open arena back up stop slamming itâs doors shut like you did.

Blizz redid this core set to be like this nobody knows for sure whatâs core whats not when we used to have them all memorized, and, its subject to annual change so learning the new core cards isnt beneficial towards the end of the hs year. so its just a confusing mess when redoing core set made us lose our familiarity with the game we built for over 5 years too big a cost for the lofty goal.

Blizz handed out a TON of not only gold cards but double cards for free. Now, non gold handing out is wise, handing out gold is not wise at all that is so flavor-destroying. so, one way to be unique was to have certain gold cards. by giving everyone gold core set for free, everyone has so many gold cards now nobody knows if you got a card gold yourself or is it one of the core cards bc not many ppl care to memorize the rotating core. being a gold card person now has like no value, it was a huge mistake. Also by doubling the handouts our collection managers are destroyed with un disenchantable double copies (gold and non gold) of all thes new-core cards.
For example, i never owned jaraxxus bc its not really my fav class warlock after zoo became obscenely overplayed in wild all the time so playing that class is the furthest thing from fun. I see two giant jaraxxuses (i?) where they cannot be DEâd and i want neither of them. like they just attacked our eyes in the collection manager and made it a huge milk spill on the floor and left it (and pitched it as like a clorox commercial) or something.

Achievements. great idea, horribly done. nobody knows what theyâre âshooting forâ you just play the game and randomly get random achievs out the way, its totally unfun this way.
-
Quest system going off xp batches instead of wins. xp batches says âplay x amount but you donât know exactly how muchâ and when you are short gold winning 3 can be a lot faster than say âearning 2-3k expâ to get that next free gold. its a much slower system not necessarily less gold but its pooled by hitting a level up instead of 3 wins.
-
âWowâ is still in the game and âiâm sorryâ is still left out.
-
Minisets, great on paper, like 2 days of content out of them at most. minisets are too small for anything hidden to happen in them on the deckbuilding side. thereâs so few cards you can quickly slot in the new cards and check the synergies thereâs not enough space for creativity in them so they are like totally not working. HS works when buffs/nerfs happen and when bigger batches of cards come out on the same day, mini sets are 1/2 the size they need to be.
-
Duels, solo content, and Mercenaries are still in hearthstone and like pushed on us when barely anyone likes or plays these modes or will.
-
Last but not least prerelease streamer parties. these things do 0 good for us the players, and totally hook up blizzard and streamers combined. streamers get income/views, blizzard gets advertising, we getâŚexposed cards on day 1. heavily understood and exposed synergies and if you choose not to look up new cards the majority of your opponents will or could so the info is still out there for your opponent even if you do the right thing and not look up all the cards live in action prior to release.
Thereâs 10 reasons why this game is soooo short lived after each expansion.
Fine a bonus.
Look at arenaâs rewards.
random non gold rares? We canât even choose what set we want our packs out of it HAS to be the current set which nobody wants for the most part bc we after some time have all the whites blues from that set and unpacking for newest set purples and legendaries isnât always what were after.
Fine another bonus
they took away âwin with x classâ and put it on âplay x gamesâ which means you just tank a match or 3 to get the xp done and its not fun at all to do that and you donât feel rewarded bc you did nothing to earn that gold? like reward comes from taking a risk and they took the risk out of this game thatâs why its no fun.
ok fine a final bonus.
card art? hero art?
Yea i know we all have seen this bizarre tank in the quality of especially gold cards art in the last year or two and especially a lot of these non battelgrounds skins. A lot of the constructed skins are poorly done. also, having 25 skins per class or whatever its at now makes the game feel strange, NOT cozy and fun like it used to, bc, well, idk waht class that is or what the heck im looking at for an opponentâs portrait all i can tell is by the HP (sans the rogue legendary) what class im facing. The reward track skins look AWFUL every one of them. like the old pre 2019 system worked well, just leave each class with like 3-4-5 skin options all paid all well done or sorta at least. not this skins galore some have emotes some dont most look rushed and like idk middle school student quality.
And last but not least that gold wing on legendary minions is awful its so big it takes away the entire art of the card. canât they just shrink that thing down so its an accent and not bigger than the actual cards art?
I mean it can keep growing but hereâs another great one.
How many rewards track cards say âundisenchantableâ? Answer - all of them.
Yea i know, we achieve xp to get cards but blizz wont let us get a buck or two back from those cards, what cheapskates. like, really? We play your game often to get those âfreeâ cards and we canât DE them?
The CM still shows non gold and gold cards and a double rare can still take the place of an epic. nobody, ever, ever, ever, wantâs double rare over epic. why is double rare pooled in with âepicâ on their pack openings like the game is about getting epics and legendaries for like 94 percent of the players.
World Championships.
we used to have it at blizzcon, and, with popular streamers.
it turned into "whenâs the world championship? Whatâs it even called? They pitch so many times these grandmaster âfinalsâ that they all sound like a world championship when theyâre not.
we want it live, at blizzcon, same time every year for planning, plus holidays so we are all home to have free time to watch it, with streamers we know for the most part.
also blizz you know like decided to show each contestantâs decklists prior to the tournament starting so no players are not sure of their opponent decks ever. they can ban based on actual lists not guesses. they play each card based off a 30 card deck they know their opponent is playing bc blizz decided to show them to prevent cheating which then ruins the element of surprise which is the enitre point of watching a match. They took their competitive scene and more than stabbed it in the foot. what in the world was wrong with the original competitive system back when kripp was in it? Like, opponents finding out their opponents decklist prematch? How often did that happen and why is this solution worth the cost?
but you know blizz hereâs what they think is wise:
NEW MODE
Hey StreamersâŚget ready for a prerelease access to stream prior to launch day! We dont care if it ruins the fun out of launch day for everyone who isnt a paid streamer!
New Mode
BG skins BG skins, 30 dollar gold bundles, BG skins, 30 dollar gold card pack bundlesâŚunderdeveloped constructed skins or poor voice acting constructed skinsâŚ
The managers at blizzard sure made some poor choices with hearthstone in the last 3 years. They meant well for sure, i just dont see how they could mess it up worse the only good change they did was no dupes on epics. i think that is legitimately the only positive change. this game used to be so fun and cozy and now its just gone it lost its soul.
they dont even make new music anymore if i recall or boards? maybe they do boards but what happened to new songs to the game its been years.
