I just accidentally played a standard deck in wild mode

when i try to play a wild deck in standard mode, i get a warning, which I also hate since it offers to modify my wild deck first, instead of just switching to the desired wild mode. i hate this clunky setup.

When I build a deck I decide at that moment if its wild or standard deck. Your card choices already define the mode you will play.

All standard cards are valid in wild format, but wild cards are not valid in standard format. There is nothing out of the ordinary here.

How about some common sense ???
Do we realy need to hand hold grown humans to this point…

The guy asks for a QoL feature that would make the game automatically assign him to the mode he wants to play based on deck he builds. Instead of swapping modes, make the game automatically put you in the right queue.

I personally didn’t have their problem, my main annoyance is that I have to click multiple times whenever I feel like swapping modes instead of just jumping into queue. With their suggestion, people would just jump into queue, whatever mode they wanna play.

But if a standard deck can be used in Wild, how does the game know what mode to put you in? Some new players want to try wild but only have standard cards so, with that reasoning, they would always queue into standard.

When you make a Wild deck, you can select to make it specifically for Wild. If someone wants to play Wild with it, they can either swap the mode of the deck or make a copy of it specifically for Wild to avoid further swaps.

Standard decks, in my opinion, are inferior to Wild decks and people shouldn’t queue with them in Wild unless they make a deliberate choice. If they follow the aforementioned steps, the game will queue their deck into Wild and they no longer will have to click to swap between modes.

In case people are afraid of confusing decks, Blizzard could easily make the decks keep their mode border (Standard being the classical golden/bronze border while Wild will be the one with branches/green) and they can make the selection menu copy the mode of the selected deck, assuring the player of the mode they queue into.

Since I play both modes so much this has definitely happened to me a few times. Learn from it and move on. Try to pay more attention when you queue up a deck.

It is annoying when you have a wild only deck or only play wild and it switches to standard mode the next time you log in. “That deck is for wild only”. No ****… It almost feels as though the hearthstone devs are trying to trick us to play standard because that’s where they make their money. Having to switch from standard back to wild is annoying when you didn’t tell the game to switch but it automatically defaults to “standard”.

Or, you know, allow for separate decklists for each mode, that way you can create specific decks for each. I mean it is just crazy that a deck I play in Classic shows up in my standard list. Since you can easily copy lists, you can transport them from one to the other if you want.

To Tman15tmb’s point you shouldn’t be logged into Standard every time either, you should be able to set which mode you want to log into when you sign on.

I do like playing the game, but the UI needs a lot of help.

Except for people who want to use a standard deck in wild, they would have problems doing that under the automatic system.

And this is why there’s no automatic mode swap. Not everybody feels the same way.

They need to add the automatic swap when you choose a wild deck but you are in standard; the opposite is not necessary, but it costs nothing to change the already present text box that asks you if you want to make your wild deck unplayable and lose your next standard game :joy:

OP never said they didn’t understand what you just explained. They don’t like the UI, the setup. The fact is it’s not reciprocal when creating a deck. Theres a warning one way, but not the other.

If you like to lose on turn 5, sure :joy:

Last season was awesome, stormpiked dh, tho now thats wild…

As I said, you can easily make your deck wild/make a wild copy. Not to mention that everyone would benefit from the removal of all those steps to swap formats…

Again, you can still make a wild copy of your deck if you want to use it so much in wild or just swap it to wild. No one will stop you from playing your standard deck in wild, you just have to specify that the deck is for wild too.

It’s literally one extra step per deck, while we talk about extra steps per mode swap. Both parties would benefit from the change, imo.

WHO IS PLAYING in wild mode with a standard deck…???
WHo ?
WHo ?
really unless I do it by accident, I dont see who is doing this on a regular.

Me.

I have done it a bunch when I am trying to complete various things and don’t want to play on standard ladder.

I have super low meme tier MMR in wild so I get wonky matches.
