You imply their financial decisions are profitable in the long term. They routinely contaminate their games for short term benefits and they lose players in the long term.
E.g. massive P2W microtransactions in wow; e.g. yo-yo-ing between OP and nerfed classes also in HS; those things are “exciting” and profitable in the short term.
Funny, because I hold a degree in design of digital media, work very close to the gaming industry and have many colleagues working in these fields too.
Go on and englighten us on how Blizzard is going bankrupt with HS if 12/12 instead of 9/12 Whizbang decks would be playable while the overall winrate is still below average. I’m really curious for your in-depth knowledge.
If Big Spell Mage came out people would’ve sticked with their <40-50% Winrate Whizbang Decks yeah? Nobody would’ve been interested in getting their hands on the most brutal ranked deck?
So much about your grand understanding of game design.
What point is there in needing to buy more cards if 1 deck is all you need to reach legend?
If you find the answer to this question, you’ll also figure out why people won’t play Whizbang only. These are just nonreflective thoughts that answer themselves.
I don’t need to honour my degree. But if you want to hear arguments you need to back up your point first, which didn’t happen by Fuzzypanda. You can’t just say whatever you just made up in your head without any foundation and then ask people to disprove you.
But I’ll gladly share some insights of things that should’ve been obvious to any participant here:
People always want the newest stuff. People don’t buy the new iPhone because their old phone is technically bad. They buy it because everyone is talking about it, everyone is using it and they want to be part of it too. It’s within human nature.
So if every streamer is talking about that new cool card or deck, people want to try it out and they want to be part of it.
The next point is fatigue. It happens pretty fast that people get bored with their decks, so they look for new ones and fresh experiences. That’s why there are new decks popping out every few weeks and why Blizzard has such a high frequency of releasing new expansions.
There won’t be any players playing Whizbang for 4 months and nothing else, ignoring all trends, not being curious for the new deck formulas, not getting bored of playing the same decks over and over again.
Next point is control: Not being able to choose which next Whizbang deck comes up will always be a downside. Pulling 6 decks in a row that you don’t favour as much as others will always be inferior to you just constructing your favourite decks and choosing them consciously.
Another point is winrate. Whizbang allows for Dia 5 upwards, but only for a small fraction of players. Players with lower skill levels - and those are many - will need stronger decks in order to see more success and therefore be more satisfied. Whizbang still has a below-average winrate and will continue having it even if those 3 worse decks get reworked.
Whizbang can’t adapt to new changes in the meta. You’re stuck with whatever you have. You can’t just go in and swap a card that would immensely boost your winrate because the current meta demands it.
There are about 1000 obvious reasons why Whizbang will never ever prevent any significant amount of players from buying new cards and playing netdecks.
There are a few ~2k dust decks that will make Legend feel like a walk in the park. Elemental mage or the Spell Mage right before the current expansion came out, only to name two.
I’m ONLY playing Whizbang this month. If you don’t want to hear things that don’t align with your views then you’re the troll. You didn’t even back up your own claims in the first place, my screen is more than you’ve ever delivered.
I’m not going to screenshot 12 different games and upload them all just because you ran out of arguments and hide behind “I don’t believe you!” now. Keep trolling if you want, this thread is also of interest for other people, it’s not made to serve you exlusively.
But in order to disprove your pathetic attempt of trolling, I’ll gladly share the replay of the Dia 4 to Dia 3 game from the screenshot list - for the thread. So people can see it’s actually Whizbang and not just any random deck.
The whole point of hearthstone existing is to make money, it’s sounds cold but it’s a business like any other and it’s main purpose is that and only that, so every move the company is oriented around maximizing profits, players having a big collection for basically free is the opposite of their goals, i’m not defending blizzard here but mainly explaining their logic and why what you want it’s pretty much impossible
Have you read the post about why this wouldn’t happen? It’s just 2-3 posts above yours - give it a shot.
You can’t put more than 2 copies of the same card into hand-crafted decks
Something one should know after 1268 posts in this forum. The fact that you didn’t explains a lot about why you have such difficulties understanding basic game mechanics.
Because of the same reasons we’ve been explaining to you, it doesn’t make financial sense, hell if anything they are cutting costs in every way they can (boards, cinematics, skins)
