I really really regret picking the right option after having found out that the rewards were different for each choice via reddit and I would like the ability to go back and pick the left option. Why wasn’t this explained well in game before I made a choice?

You pressed the icon and was prompted with the option to lock it by pressing choose.
Blame your impatience, the rewards were shown if you waited even a second before locking your choice.
No, not if they didn’t click on both sides.
This is why I asked in the other thread about the reward tracks. I wanted to see what the options were before I clicked anything.
I also hoped my ignorance and asking here would have helped others find information and avoid the issue the op is having.
I agree that they could have done a much better job of clarification before they asked us to choose, for sure.
