Anyone who plays Standard has my praise.
I played in order to finish out the dumb festival prizes.
(Gave me “play rush minions”. Of course. Mage has exactly zero.)
Anyway. What a mess.
Mage is trash. A bunch of disparate playstyles all crammed into one class that have nothing to do with another.
Meanwhile; there are at least three or four classes that can kill you by turn 5.
Team 5 really does not give a toss anymore.
They apparently feel the player base is so brainless that they will buy anything.
They may be right.
The people in charge are just bad at this. That’s all it is. This happens to every organization where talented and capable people are driven out and replaced by whoever will take whatever crap pay you’re giving them. I can’t imagine that blizzard is drawing a lot of top tier talent from other studios these days. They’re literally hiring influencers and QAs to be devs. The lead on this expansion dresses like a toddler
I really don’t understand the complaint you persistently have about “kill you by turn 5”. Go load up classic hearthstone, make an aggro deck (pick your poison, I tried midrange hunter) and go see how fast you kill someone. I was able to end games by turn 5, maybe 6 with bad draws.
Hearthstone has been like this since its creation. If you want the game to end at a different turn, I suggest a different game because this is not it, and it has nothing to do with team 5.
And I’m not defending them, but your reason for hating them is just functionally incorrect. If you want to hate them, at least pick something more tangible.
I wish that when you ignored somebody, you wouldn’t see the spam threads they create.
I didn’t realize we could determine someone’s ability to design games based on their fashion sense.
It is ad hominem to say the least.
Everyone knows the best videogame developers in the industry tend to have an exquisite sense of fashion.
What do you expect from the dev team at this point led by chakki and cora. Since ashes of outland, the quality of standard has been declining. I dont even know what the game’s numbers would look like without battlegrounds which has been the saving grace of this game. Instead of trying to balance the game they just try to remedy the popularity of standard by releasing these broken classes to entice pack sales.
This game is just a rigged money making machine. Randomness is pure illusion. Everything is manipulated.
And I wish that when you ignore somebody, you actually were able to.
It isn’t the turn 5 kill that bothers me.
It’s the fact that so many decks are capable of it now, when I remember quite clearly my favorite mage deck getting slammed for being “too un-interactive” when it killed you on turn 5.
The hypocrisy just stinks.
I’m basing their ability to design games on the lousy edm themed x-pac they just crapped out
Their fashion sense is simply a red flag for me that they probably shouldn’t be around kids so no I automatically don’t like them. Call it ad hominem if you want but those are the vibes I’m getting off this guy
Absolutely not. Sure, what you describe happened in classic once in a while, but that was literally the only way for aggro to win vs control. Control warrior in classic could stomp any aggro deck.
The difference in classic vs this meta is in classic you had a choice, you could play aggro if you liked fast games, but you could also play control if you wanted to play strategic games. Control has very strong counter play vs aggro.
In today’s Hearthstone, you have one… maybe two classes with approval to be control (blood dk) and that’s it. Then everything else is aggro, because even control can’t reliable best aggro.
So today’s Hearthstone favors aggro and it’s not a slight effect, it’s a massive glaring bias, they want to force everyone to play games that are aggro or are over by turn 4, 5 or 6 the latest.
Why do you think that is? Back in classic you had less power so you can get away with doing nothing. In Modern Hearthstone if you do nothing you explode to snowballing power combos. You do nothing in modern Hearthstone for a turn and all of a sudden that 1/1 you left on board turns into 20 face damage and you explode. Its just the do the sit back do nothing control doesn’t work in Hearthstone anymore and people call everything else that isn’t that extreme kind of control Aggro.
I’m loving standard right now
I think they just need a few adjustments to a few certain decks and then we’re golden.
It might not be the best time to be a Mage main, but there’s a LOT of variety right now whether people want to believe it or not.
Pretty sure the guy just formulated the deeper issue incorrectly-games are incredibly onesided and dependent on rng so much that player agency is barely even recognized, which feels worse when you’re getting steamrolled by turn 5 by some cancerous bs like Pure Paladin.
Like face hunter in classic hearthstone, steam rolling some poor shmuck who had the audacity to mulligan into a bad hand and simply could not recover fast enough to survive the damage output of his opponent, and…
Today’s flavor of aggro is no different than another rotation’s flavor of aggro, and also no different from classic. Everyone was running aggro on the low tier parts of the ladder, and as you climb you slowly encounter opponents playing decks that prey on aggro players. And trust me, the game has lots of ways to answer aggro right now.
Just because there are about 20 different flavors of aggro, they’re all the same and all fall prey to the same things they always did.
Like this guy says, the answer is so obvious. And he is right, control warrior stomped these aggro trash piles to the way side and high rank hearthstone became control oriented.
So go play control and climb the ladder, or try to aggro harder than the next aggro player. It is all the same, hearthstone hasn’t changed.
Wild feels just as unfun. I’m so bored of this game. I legitimately find myself getting angry at this game, the people playing the same boring decks over and over, the devs, and more importantly myself for still playing something that is clearly just a bad habit because there’s no fun in it. I can’t recall the last time I closed the hearthstone app saying wow, I really enjoyed my matches today!
Wild is more fun for me right now because I can play what styles I prefer, as opposed to what styles Standard allows me.
The Wild “improvements” will probably destroy that.
That’s not true though. Today’s aggro is usually a combination of aggro-midrange, or aggro-combo-good example is a Curse-Imp Warlock. In general, you are right, but aggro matchups being a fancy version of roulette still doesn’t feel right to me.
Holy frick this game became so bad…
I returned after 2 years just to see standard is same bullsh as wild…
Too many aggro decks,
Dk is broken.
Heals to 50+, cheap cards why???
maybe nerf it so it doesnt discover cards from different runes or if he does discover turn off the battle cry / condition of the card if minion… or if its a spell make i do only dmg dont heal or freeze the board or draw double cards.
Paladin is maybe worse that dk, priest is same aggro deck with copy mechanism and deal face dmg.
Way too many cards have premium stats and broken mechanics.
With this imba tempo we are looking at a dead game
