Hunter player with some feedback/thoughts on the class

I’m a longtime Hunter player, I’ve been using one deck for ages, it’s the only deck I’ve ever made on my own that’s actually been good and worked for me. I actually stopped playing for maybe 5-7 years as I got bored, but came back because of a friend and found I had some good cards, and there were heaps of new ones that interested me. Now I’ve got some feedback from my experience. I should also mention I only play wild. I haven’t looked at standard as I play my deck because it’s fun and I know a fair few of my cards won’t be in standard. It’s only a few things but I feel I have reasoning behind them.

  • Defend the dwarven district rewards should be changed to ‘for the rest of the game’. It’s only fair based on other classes (Priest)
  • Shan’do interaction with Charged Devilsaur when playing on same turn. Battlecry shouldn’t be be trigged as it’s not being played, it’s a copy. 10 mana for 7 face damage is not broken.
  • Hollow hound should be a 4/4, 6 mana 3/4 isn’t very good and much of the time just isn’t enough to help. There’s also minimal ability to heal in the hunter class, and I don’t see a 4/4 breaking the card.
  • This one might be controversial, but I think Reno Jackson should also be ‘if your deck started with no duplicates’. It’s Reno and shouldn’t be so easy to become useless (I probably have some bias as the card can be the difference between a win and a loss).

I’m suggesting these changes to balance the strength of hunter compared to other classes,(for example priest can set the cost of their hero power to 0, refresh after each card NOT spell, and keep after Reno). It would make Hunter a more viable class, there are few cards with that kind of power in the hunter class when compared to others. In my opinion the Hunter class overall is one of the weaker classes when it comes to overall strength and deck viability, with only a few that can compete effectively and consistently.

If anyone is interested I’m happy to share my deck, I haven’t hit legend with it yet but I’ve come close and I’m always trying to find ways to make it better. I’m at a point where I’m not sure how I can make it better. My deck is strong but beatable, and all it takes is an average drawer and I’ll lose multiple games in a row which gets real frustrating.

Keen to hear what anyone else thinks. Maybe I’ve missed some things in the years I stopped playing.
