So I play exclusively wild and Hunter in any form is basically dead above Gold. The main issue with any hunter deck is the startling lack of draw mechanics for the class. The only hunter deck that is even playable is spell/quest hunter and even then it looses steam quick. All other classes have multiple draw mechanics built in. Even the much hated face hunter is basically worthless in wild. Decks like Face/Murloc Shammy, Pirates Rouge/War ect all out draw it 3x1. Any thoughts or am I just not building my decks correct. Im Diamond/7/Wild as of this writing.
That isn’t true. I play in Platinum and Diamond every month and there are plenty of Hunters.
Out of the last 100 games Ive seen less than 5 hunters. Soooooooo
Copper Hunter is quite viable in wild, all the way up to top 100 legend.
I don’t know where He plays. I see Hunters every day.
I play against hunters in wild all the time.
Plenty in diamond and legend ranks.
Type draw into your collection, then add some of the cards to your deck, problem solved
To be fair, Hunter is the class with historically abmysal draw, mostly conditional to boot. That changed a bit over the last 2-3 years, but it’s still amongest the three lowest:Shaman , Hunter and Priest are below 20 - compare that to Rogue or Mage, who have about two times that much.
But there’s also the Summon keyword. Here Hunter seems king together with Druid (both in the 70-80s) while Mage and Rogue only have about half as much. A lot of Druid and Hunter summons are tokens, though, often small ones.
In the end, Hunter isn’t great when it comes to draw cards from it’s deck, in ye olde times you where mostly topdecking from turn 5-6. If you need specific cards, your best bet as Hunter might even be to tutor OTHER cards to make drawing the needed one more likely. But if you in dire need of Beasts, you will have more success since it’s a theme in Hunter Draw/Summon cards.
hunter is supposed to be an aggro face class with draw as it’s handicap. that’s the class.
Just play value cards, like DK rexxar or tavish, and your problem with drawing would be reduced.
Guardian animal is also a better “draw two cards” in a beast deck.
Of course a combo hunter would be very bad due to not good cycle cards, but that’s fine since it isn’t supposed to be a rogue
(invoking the Dude meme from The Big Lebovski)
In the same vein one could say that Priest and Warrior are “do nothing but heal or remove for 27 turns.” classes. But here we are, Pirate Warrior and Naga Priest are two things and Hunter had value cards like DLMdD mentioned, playing and winning games longer than 7 turns.
Cut Rexxar some slack.
So hunter isn’t supposed to be a face deck?
And face decks should not be draw limited?
Wow, if that is the direction this game is taking, then I am so done.
Cause i guarantee it wont hold true for my class.
Hunter class HAS Face Decks, that doesn’t exclude other venues.
Classes in HS aren’t a singular, specific deck type, there is variance even if you want it otherwise.
Are we going thru this again?
Uh huh. this game is turning into garbage because ppl can’t realize that classes are supposed to have strengths and weaknesses.
Lets say its supposed to be a face deck. It cant keep up with any of the pirate or merloc decks simply based on draw. We all get it you hate hunters but your just wrong. Not to mention the ONLY high level hunter deck getting any play is spell hunter.
We dont have to go through it again. He is correct.
It is wild. Enough said.
Thats simply not true, AT ALL!
This is the best Hunter deck or a variant of it in wild, by far:

You might not see it much because it has a steep learning curve and high skill cap, especially for a Hunter deck. But it is very much viable, and the most played hunter deck in top 100-500 legend, by far. “Spell” Hunter is the non-existent Hunter deck in high legend wild.
You are both talking about Wild ladder, yes?
Interesting, it’s game plan seems not that much different from the faster midrange decks of yore, but with the infuse package added. I could see Afterlife Attendant (Your Infuse cards also infuse while in your deck) being at least tried out, what do you think?
I definitely am talking about wild ladder.
Copper Hunter, the link I provided, is the best Hunter deck in wild at this point in time.
Its no midrange deck, its a “Miracle” Hunter combo deck. You draw quick with Buzzard and 1 drops. Your 1 drops also feed your “Edwin” combo of Hyena & Rhino.
I dont play the deck, its way out of my league (and I dont own some necessary cards), but it really is the best deck wild Hunters have at their disposal in wild right now, by a significant margin - nothing else even register diamond through legend on HSR, and subjectively supported by what I see on the wild streams I watch. Not seen a spell Hunter in sight…
But many, MANY, Copper Hunters being played at high legend ranks.
