Who let the dogs out
Who? Who? Who? Who?

Ok cards. Boring and one-dimensional in the usual hunter style. I don’t like how easily they resort to sticking the word ‘random’ onto every card they print these days, but it’s what it is.

I’ve been wanting to play a token hunter. I don’t think anything can stop me now.

Finally, something that isn’t Green Paladin. Thank you.

Seems like your average Hunter cards.
Nothing of interest.

Legendary tries to be “fun” but fails.

When I saw them I just assumed they all had rush, now I realize they all have battlecry: die immediately following being played.

You would probably run Bunny Stomper in the deck, but you can also follow them up with Saddle Up!.

There’s no way this package is good if they don’t have Rush.

Unleash the Hounds would barely be playable today, and R.C. Rampage is worse than that.

Hemet requires you to be ahead on the board with a bunch of tokens. Would be good with Rush/Charge Hounds, but those aren’t around.

Painted Canvasaur requires you to be ahead on the board with a bunch of tokens.

Remote Control is good.

Jungle Gym is good. Horrible as a 2-drop, though.

I assume we’re going to see more support for this midrange playstyle, but geez those Hounds not having Rush or Charge is awful.

Synergy from previous expansions:

FOL: Thornmantle Musician, Barrel of Monkeys, Jungle Jammer?

TITANS: Awakening Tremors, Absorbent Parasite, Bestial Madness?, Observer of Myths?, Hodir?

Badlands: Sneaky Snakes, Messenger Buzzard, Saddle Up!, Camouflage Mount

So…there might be something there, but without Rush/Charge this is extremely vulnerable to any decent Control strategy. Warrior decks (which are losing hardly anything in case you forgot) will bully this package relentlessly.

Colifero Hunter, summon stuff with spells, if anything sticks, summon big board of Containment Units or Charging Plushes. Containment Units can stick to hounds too so it’s not just a dead draw!

Probably bad but let me cook

This conditional statement is doing a heck of a lot of work.

Unfortunately, it’s a trait shared by almost every unique archetype since FoL.

yawn

They really need to do some serious introspection when it comes to hunter and paladin.

At least Mystery Egg is kinda cool but very expensive.

Fetch is a great spell in all beast hunter. We’re getting Master’s Call in core set so between the two cards we have 10 cards drawn in 4 spells, which is pretty good.

Patchwork Pals is decent with handbuff support. I suppose it might get used with King Plush?

Toyrannosaurus is an arena card.

Fetch! is good but if you hit something like Hemet, it feels REALLY BAD. Probably going to be a staple, though. You can definitely make a deck with almost only Beasts, if not totally Beasts.

Mystery Egg made me double take at first, it looks really bad. However, if you run Messenger Buzzard or Bestial Madness, you can salvage it. Still, 5 mana for those stats, even with the Mini, is a LOT to ask. It’s probably this bad because you can cheat out Banjosaur, Mukla, King Plush, etc.

Patchwork Pals is phenomenal. Reminds me of the Spell Hunter days. I think each Animal Companion is 3 mana naturally, so this makes them 2.

Toyrannosaurus is decent. Feels like it might be too slow…I think it’d actually be way better with less health. Triggering that Deathrattle when you want will be harder with a statline that beefy.

I’ll try to revive Big Beast Hunter from FoL but it doesn’t look promising, folks.

I forgot about that. Could be great.

there’s def potential for beast hunter right now. I’ll have to do some theory craft. Might even be a good budget deck for climbing

Toyrannosaurus strikes me as something you’d love to cheat out with Colifero or Mystery Egg. And if you draw it early, you put it back in with Gaslight Gravekeeper. Maybe not as good as King Plush on a board without taunts, but good for saturating the deck with targets.

Hmm, I feel like this is going to become the same problem Paladin was, it’ll get to the point where Hunter can just endlessly flood the board like Paladin.
Edit: Sea Giant is still in right?
