I get all the cards and packs I need when a set releases that’s why I don’t count them and it’s 4200. I have every card I could possibly need from AOO, SA, and almost every card I could need from year of the dragon minus a couple mage legendaries which at this point I don’t want since they’re gonna rotate in a few months and I’d rather get something with more longevity.
Random epics and legendaries are nothing worth because they are often not want you want or need or just bad…
To be fair, “random legendaries” are what we get from packs and people often judge their mass openings based on how many they got.
Many f2p players think random legendary is dust no matter the source.
I rerolled a bg weekly into the one where you have to play 10 old gods from madness at the darkmoon faire
Well come on slacker, get on it!!
Looks pretty bad right now.
Not that I’m shocked or that people didn’t say this would happen, but I still feel somehow sad about this.
Since Boomsday I pretty much stopped playing the game, but still kept up with my dailies and it gave me joy to open packs on expansion launch days and expanding my collection. From doing dailies I could always open 70-80 packs per expansion, and it took me minimum effort to complete them. It seems that with the new system it will take a lot more effort to get the same amount.
I also dislike that they are forcing you into particular game modes. Playing duels almost gave me a brain tumor. And they want you not only to play, but to win which is super unfriendly for new f2p players who don’t have enough cards to compete in ranked or duels.
Seems like it’s time to abandon this ship. I just lost the last motivation to even log in and complete my dailies.
Does anyone know of the time played or wins count as experience in casual?
Don’t believe you get anything in casual from xp for playing.
- Reward XP – You can earn XP just for playing the game in most game modes. This includes Casual, Ranked, Arena, Duels, Battlegrounds, Tavern Brawls, and Adventures. Friendly Challenge variants of these modes do not give XP.
The gold is just not enough. I have all the cards. I buy the expansions as they come out… Packs are a total waste for me as are arena tickets. i’m never ever ever playing that awful format.
I had to retract everything I said earlier. The system feels like a chore.
They took what was a casual, fun system of gold collection and turned it into a maze that will reward less gold to practically everyone because the time investment is insane.
That quest is probably only slightly harder to complete now than it will be when the set releases with the state of the meta. Better like either playing as or against priest for that one
Yup. They set it up perfectly. Get people excited by making stuff super easy to get day one. Then, day two, sucker punch.
When you look at the numbers, it’ll take almost a week to unlock one level…and that probably won’t even be for gold but some old crap pack
yeah don’t be fooled.
I earned 500 gold and like 4 packs today for about 12 wins worth of play…
but in the long run they’re basically cutting our gold in half.
Easy enough (to anyone that plays BG often, we all have good games sometimes).
Interesting a quest is paywalled. I know it’s only gold but still…
That said, 4 wins isn’t impossible (but it is above average for non-arena players).
So this.
I’ve done all my quests and can already see tomorrow’s daily won’t even get me a level-up.
I think a lot of us fell for it.
The first half hour all the packs and gold blinded me. Im already at around level 15… finished the quests and NOW I see the grind.
I’ve got a hunch they may do one of two things as there’s likely gonna be some backlash on this kinda grind:
-
increase weekly xp reward (it’s kinda low considering it’s only once a week)
-
have xp events (like Overwatch does rarely) where you get an xp multiplier by playing any mode
I’m bracing for the incoming ‘wtf’ posts that’ll come out tomorrow when less savvy players realize what’s happening.
I think the best way they can improve this while keeping the costs to the company relatively low would be to rework the gaps between levels to be a flat number and set it out so it is always the same gap between levels. Then they would adjust people’s current progress back down to where they would be on the new track with their current total XP. The compensation to players would be that they keep whatever rewards they’ve already earned and can get them a second time as they progress through the more even ladder.
