Hows do i deal with priest and it's infinite removal?

Actually, you should be trying to make a hand read to see whether they have Psychopomp / Grave Rune in hand, and potentially waste some of their value/tempo.

You want to prioritize bouncing Khartut over Faceless because the former makes pushing late game face damage harder than the latter. Also, rogue can generate enough lackeys to effectively nullify Manipulator’s effect.

As a rogue, I’d say the first thing to realize is you aren’t really in much of a hurry. As a hunter or warrior, the first thing to realize is optimizing your tempo and their tempo loss as early as possible.

The one thing i struggle with playing this deck, is the excessive randomness from certain decks. Like the RNGmage, with puzzlebox of winsaron, the 10 mana hero card that litterally wins you the game the moment you play it :frowning:

I had it cast twisting nether after i tried to regain the board…

Do you even read what you type? Which is it?

To the OP:

You’re favoured versus Priest so you’re making errors (mulligan/play) if you’re consistently losing. Priest runs a lot of AoE (though some Galakrond lists are cutting back) but it’s not infinite. You have a disgusting amount of value in your deck and, assuming you run/discover Scheme, can actually go infinite.

If you have a strong hand you can try to pressure early - Priests lack card draw and I’ve had matches where my AoE is buried in the deck. If the Priest has the answers to your early boards then just play the value game. Breath/Nova are low damage AoEs and whilst Plague will clean any board, its cost ensure that you retain tempo and can just play your next wave of cards onto an empty board (maybe a cheap Priest minion is already there to be contested).

You need to find that sweet spot between going too wide and not threatening them enough. The removals are inevitable, but it’s up to you to strategize how to draw them out.

Basic Anti-Priest play is to never throw all your threats on the board at once.

Winning against Priest as Galakrond Rogue may be contrary to the basic way you play your deck. That secret that draws cards? Probably don’t play that unless it’s very early or you really need more cards in hand. Actually push the button on your Galakrond Hero Power sometimes. Pick greedy dragons. Start early, value often.

Contrary to popular opinion, Priest aoe is abundant but not infinite. Galakrond Rogue can generate a lot of resources through Lackeys. Sometimes just sit on a board of 6 lackeys until the Priest has to aoe. You can run Priest out of cards pretty easily if they don’t get Galakrond or Kronx in the top half of the deck.

So much stupidity in this thread. Glad most rogues aren’t smart enough to figure this out. One single card makes you automatically win.

I feel like I’m betraying myself and my class to tell you, but this will probably get lost in the shuffle so it’s fine.

Togwaggle’s Scheme.

I found a new nemesis…bullcrapmage…With puzzlebox and the 10 mana hero…there’s nothing that they can’t recover from ;(

You just found out about that deck huh?

So funny enough, both those cards are only playable when they are behind when the average result is better than just flat out losing.

When ahead or even, both of those cards suck.

What that means is you have to be careful not to overcommit.

Puzzle box had like a 40% played winrate when played, but if the mage is guaranteed going to lose, 40% increase in winrate is massive.

So, think about that when you build a board. Don’t go all in and feed those cards — the basic play tips for playing around board clears in general.

That deck is not that good, so you shouldn’t be losing to it much. If you are, you are probably playing incorrectly.

Rogue school-yard BULLIES priests . What is this thread?

Now i am more curious how to beat the infinite RNG fiesta that, that mage deck seems to manage. With like 5 puzzleboxes of yogscaron that go in their favor 70% of the time…Solarian and various other insane things like an seemingly endless number of freeze effects…how do you beat the deck?

Yogg box and I would consider the Reno hero power are somewhere at 40% I think, you play around it like you do plague of death. Committing to the board when it guarantees mutual destruction is how you play around it.

With freeze effects into board clears, you have to know when your board already demands to be cleared. If he freezes on 9 don’t throw alextrasa and her dragons on the board because he’s probably going to Reno anyway right?

Yeah, but i can’t infinitely play around those. If i’m playing a semi-swarmy deck i Have to play stuff at some point. If that doesn’t get me, the fatigue will…or the avalance of facehunters afterwards will…god i hate that stupid braindead deck…

You don’t have to, eventually they will play it when they are 40% winning the board and they nuke their board and buff yours or fireball their own face. This is not that strong of a deck, give us some replays and we can probably help you out.

Thanks for posting your games.

I only have time to watch the first game:

  • against death wing, you should have played alextrasa and at least one of the dragons, but even both would have been good. You could do the shadow copy or whatever the turn after, doing it before did nothing to contest the bored. Rogue is great at maintaining tempo — but if you are at zero tempo that is meaningless.

  • you spent multiple turns with another alextrasa in your hands and your opponent had nothing to deal with it.

You scored two extra alextrasas that game, now THATS insane rng too. You should watch the replay yourself, I know it’s not easy, but think about how that game would have gone if you had played it the way I described. You did not put pressure on his top decks and as a result, he had several turns to come up with an answer. You could have won that game very quickly.

The secrets are good for protecting a board, they would have been more helpful to disrupt him trying to clear your 0 cost dragons.
